I had a pretty bad hemorrhage and was kept on Pitocin and an epidural for a long time after. I know I was exhausted but so pumped that I couldn't sleep, but that's it. Just stitches and trying to get the baby to nurse until I said get him off of me!!!!!! Wayyyyy too many people touch every part of my body at once, lol. I remember some things but DH recently told me the story in a different way than I remember. I also don't remember holding DS before DH on the operating table after my c section. I remember seeing DH holding him and I thought the first time I got him was in the recovery room when they gave him to me to breastfeed. Anywho I vividly remember standing in the bathroom while the nurses undressed me and wiped all the blood off while watching other nurses change the bedding and mop all the blood off the floor very efficiently. I also had a milkshake. DH fed me breakfast while I fed DD for the first time. Once I was all stitched up my mom and sister left to get food. The nurses also left us alone for an hour of bonding time. We spent a couple more hours in L&D as I needed some extra blood pressure monitoring before being moved to a recovery room. They insisted I get up and try to go to the bathroom.. I wasn't ready. I passed out. I have a history of fainting, so it wasn't surprising. But it was frustrating how worried they all were, when I knew nothing was wrong--I just hadn't been ready to get up after losing so much blood. Then the first time I went to the bathroom I didn't realize that I would have no bladder control!! The rest of the day was foggy. I still don't remember seeing either of my BILs that day, but there are pictures! Like I thought we had skin to skin in a quiet room for at least an hour, and Dh says t was like 15 minutes. I think it was probably somewhere in between. @Boopers: I remember the first trip to the bathroom. No epidural so it was right after they took the baby to do her tests and stuff and the nurse helped carry the gigantic bed pad under me. I recently asked her about it, and she said she had no recollection of me saying anything! But she actually doesn't remember much about either childbirth or the time immediately postpartum... she says it's all just a huge blur to her!
