Our family couldn't afford a regular computer so I saved until I bought one of those babies. I think it was around $1900 (or was it $900?). I had a big decision to either buy that or a Summer abroad trip to Guadalajara. As part of the decision making, I called a radio station during their Keep Me on the Phone contest. Our first was an IBM, I believe. I remember using DOS when I was 4, so that was 1988-89. We live in Silicon Valley, so my schools have always been stocked with Apple computer labs. My earliest computer memory was at 5 or 6 when my mom added Ts across the top of a DOS screen for me to type on. The T was for my first name, but as a kid I thought all computers came like that. In 6th grade we got our first color printer and that was really cool. My classmates were still using Kinko's.
