Yes, this past Saturday (27 July) was our last nursing session. :-( We've been slowly weaning as I'm 14 weeks pregnant with our next one and want a little break in between, but it still makes me a bit sad. LO is 13.5 months though so I feel amazingly proud of the fact that we made it this far and she went through her entire first year of life with nothing but BM and solids. Hoping it works out this well for the next one!

Yup! Friday, January 18, 2013, just shy of 21 months. He nursed like usually that day, but refused to nurse to sleep (which he always needed to do) and never asked for it again. He received frozen breastmilk until 2 weeks past his 2nd birthday.

I can't remember the real last session. Ours has been a very slow process but once I hit the middle of my pregnancy they stopped feeling like real nursing sessions. Even after she was pretty much weaned she still asked occasionally and sometimes we'd nurse but it wasn't the same so I don't remember when the last 'real' time was, but to an extent I'm kinda glad I didn't know it was the last time, I'd probably have been too emotional. I def remember and look back fondly on our time spent nursing though.

I love nursing my little monkey so much. He stands up nursing now. I'm not sure when we will stop. He is 11 months old in a week. It's up to him. I know I will be emotional about it.

this thought has always made me teary. part of me wants to remember it, but part of me wishes it would be fuzzy so that I can let go easier. I'm a very, very emotional/sensitive person and I definitely hold onto things like that in my memory - and then think about them and get emotional over and over. haha. I feel like I would/will be less emotional over it if I can't remember as precisely.

@Running Elley: Same with us.

It happened around 3 weeks though...he just was taking so long to feed off of me, and it was easier to bottle feed, rock to sleep and then pump for the next feed. I don't remember our last breastfeed and that makes me pretty sad. It was just exhausting and I couldn't keep it up.

I don't, it was such a gradual thing, and eventually when I'd offer, she's just grin and smile at me, but not latch. It was somewhere in her 13th month I think? Now if she sees my nipples, she swats at them and fakes out latching (so silly, she opens her mouth, leans over, then pulls back laughing). She's so over it!

Yep. DS at 13 months - I had to be put under for surgery and we stopped nursing the day before :(

DD is nearly 14 months and is all about nursing lately so it might be awhile...which I am okay with in case she is my last child.

NICU day 3, she refused to take the boob no matter how many LC tried to get her to latch. I had to make the decision to pump in order to bottle feed her to get her to eat (and when that didn't work we fed her with a syringe.) I EP for 8 weeks and then switched to formula to keep my sanity.

Nope. He dropped all feedings except the one in the middle of the night, so one of those was the last one! I had long since perfected the art of promptly going back to sleep, so when I realized one morning that I hadn't been woken up in a day or so, I figured we were done. He was just shy of 2.5 years.

We switched to formula at 3 months. It was better for both of us but I felt so guilty. I nursed her one last time and sat on the floor next to her sleeping and just cried. Makes me a little sad now too :(

I honestly can't remember it even though it was back in late April. I remember more nursing him under a cover in the airport before our trip. He kept on pulling up the cover to watch everyone and look at me. I still miss our nursing time together, but don't miss the dream feeds or pumping at work.

E hasn't weaned yet, but I hope his last nursing session is one of our 5am sessions. It's his one MOTN feeding, and I could probably drop it but I just...can't. During the day he's so go-go-go that he just does drive-by nursing (runs up, nurses for a few seconds on each side, runs off. Repeat in 5 minutes). But at 5am he's warm and sleepy and very cuddly. It's a good half hour session, and he snuggles in close (we side-nurse on the futon in his room) and I can love on him...stroke his hair, smell his shampoo, rub his back....sometimes he dozes off for a minute, and then wakes up and gives me the most adoring, sleepy look. When I finally pick him up to put him back in his crib he nuzzles into my neck. It's my absolute favorite time of day, and when he weans I want that to be my last memory of nursing him.

I barely nursed. I started pumping less than a week into it and stopped bfing altogether at 6w. I only really remember one session in particular and it wasn't quite the last one which I think I vaguely remember... Maybe if I had bf'd a more significant amount of time...

Ugh no :( It happened so gradually at around 3 months and eventually I just stopped trying. I didn't think about it at the time but I don't remember our last nursing session at all and it actually makes me really sad that I don't. Granted, our nursing sessions at the time consisted of lots of screaming and crying and pulling off every 10 seconds so it wasn't necessarily a good experience but still..

I remember offering to nurse him in his play yard and he shook his head and blew raspberries and laughed. It wasn't such a bad ending. Even though I wished we could've gone longer, like @chopsuey119 said, it wasn't worth the fight. He was happy and healthy.

I'm pretty sure we are totally done nursing (I'm going to EP until she turns 1 in November because she will not agree to nurse anymore).

It is SO emotional to think that I'll never nurse her again. :sad: But it is for the best and I'm happy with my decision.
