I do rock him for a few minutes before bed, but really isn't into it! If I rock him and sing to him he starts laughing and cooing! Wired baby.

I have been thinking about this lately! I always thought rocking was so common, but a girlfriend of mine said that if you DON"T rock your baby, she won't become dependent on it and she becomes easier to put down. She never rocked her kid and she is able to go to sleep so easily, without this giant routine. Gave me food for thought, for sure.

I rock her for about 2 minutes to gauge whether she's sleepy, and then put her in her crib awake. I'll sing to her and pat her for a few minutes and leave.

Initially we didn't have to but once she hit her first sleep regression we did. She's now 6 months and we don't anymore, we're working on her being an independent sleeper.

I used to have to bounce her to sleep every night. Now I just nurse her, then sing Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, kiss her, and put her down. If she wakes and fusses during the night I'll go in an bounce and sing to her to calm her down, but I still put her in the crib awake.

I wish! DS is almost 11 months and thinks he's such a big boy, he doesn't like to be held like a baby anymore, haha
I am able to rock him to sleep if he's especially tired or if he's sick.

Sometimes. We're trying to get away from it because it stopped working well. I don't really enjoy having to rock for an hour to get a 45 minute (or less) nap. But sometimes she just wants to cuddle, and I'm totally okay with that :)

Yes!, I rock my DD to sleep every night. I did the same with my son too. I do the "drowsy but awake" technique so I rock her until she's drowsy and then I lay her down and pat her until she falls asleep so that she learns to fall asleep on her own. I did the exact same thing with my son and eventually I was able to just lay him down, pat him for a little while and walk away. I love rocking her to sleep. It's my most favorite time of the day. I love those quiet moments where it's just me and her, rocking, singing softly, smelling her skin, kissing her face. Eventually they get too big/heavy to rock. Those days go by way so fast! :(

I voted sometimes because I used to rock her to sleep. Thankfully now she can put herself to sleep by sucking her thumb, but even so, she's just too heavy for me to rock her now.

I said yes, but we're working on transitioning DS away from rocking. I'm hoping when he remembers how to put himself to sleep his 2 hour midnight parties will end too...

We do. We read to her and then cuddle, sing and rock until she falls asleep. Sometimes she is still drowsy when she goes into her crib but I like to cuddle her until she falls asleep.
