DS goes into his crib wide awake. He falls asleep after "talking" to himself for a bit. He's 3.5m.
*Sometimes* at night, i'll rock him to sleep because I know he will be down for 11-12h and I'll miss him:)

We don't rock to sleep, but we do rock some. It's part of his bedtime routine. Just a few minutes of rocking and snuggling in the dark, and then awake in the crib. Plus I enjoy that time with him since it's the only part of the day he'll allow snuggling. :)

@cascademom: I look forward to the night cuddles of her falling asleep on me for that reason! I feel like with her going to bed earlier now that I hardly get to spend anytime time with her that isn't feeding or bathing. We only get about 30 minutes of play time at night!

Never. I used to but stopped at 3 months after I read Baby Whisperer. Now she always goes into her crib awake.

She's almost 4 months old and we try not to rock her to sleep unless she's really fussy, however she is in teh habit of falling asleep on us at night and than we put her i the crib. This isn't a good habit either, although she will wake up when we put her in the crib and go back to sleep on her own after a minute of fussing.

Yup, especially for naps, but usually for bedtime too. I don't really mind it, since he usually stays asleep once we put him down.

I rock my kids to sleep still at 6 months, for naps and bedtime. But it's typically for a short period of time since we nap trained. I sing 3 rounds of their lullaby and then they go in the crib, awake or asleep. Usually they're mostly asleep and then settle themselves in their crib when I put them down. I probably won't stop rocking until they resist, I love it.

She never cuddles and lets me rock her to sleep anymore :( Is that a bragplaint? lol. I sometimes wish we could cuddle and have quiet time like that, but she's much happier to put herself to sleep (10.5 months old!)

We rock our LO to sleep at 5 months. We haven't started sleep training just yet. He falls asleep easily when he's tired with rocking. Other days, he's unconvinced.

Yes we do but not by choice. After sleep training DD, she caught a cold, that's still lingering. Ever since, we've had to rock her to sleep. The good thing is that she's gone back to sleeping for 8 hour long stretches. The downside is that she wakes up at 4am and refuses to go back to sleep. We seriously need to find a way to get her to wake up later

No, rocking never did anything for him except make him squirm....he almost always needed to be nursed to sleep.

S is only 4 months, but we got into the really bad habit of rocking him from the start. We just recently started sleep training him a few weeks ago, and that's been going well. We can now put him down without rocking him. He'll whine for about 15 minutes (sometimes less) and will turn on his side and go to sleep. Here's hoping the 4 month sleep regression doesn't put us back to rocking!

Olive used to go into the crib awake from 8 months - 15 months. Then she got sick and started fighting naps so we started rocking her to sleep. She passes out so fast! I miss the days of plopping her in her crib and we'll probably go back to that once she's completely better (she still has a runny nose). But since she is still sleeping well with the rocking, it hasn't been so bad.

If you do rock your lo, do you do it when they're much older? I don't know because Charlie always went into his crib awake!
