We only run the dishwasher when it's not all the way full if we run out of something. We seem to be running ridiculously low on Tupperware and silverware -- I have no CLUE where it goes -- so we've been running it half full a lot more lately. I do run it ocassionally to flush out the pipes and keep the dishwasher in good condition. We have some laundry that only makes a small load, like whites or gentles.
