I do morning routine, so I see him then. I also get food ready while he's getting picked up by Daddy at night, so I see him both day and night.

I never see Xander in the morning during the week anymore. I go to work before he gets up and my husband takes the kids to daycare. And I only see Logan because I'm still nursing him in the morning. Once we're done nursing, I probably won't see either of them in the morning.

I pick them up from daycare though, so I always see them in the evening! Hubs usually sees them both morning and night, but occasionally will work late and not see them in the evening.

I do, being a SAHM of course, but DH misses both girls in the morning, nearly always misses DD2 in the evening, and only gets about 15 minutes with DD1 in the evening before she goes to bed. It's hard for all of us as I know the girls really miss seeing him, and he misses them as well, but it means we really treasure our weekends together.

I work two long days each week (12+ hrs) so I often miss at least one of the kids in the morning but see both when I get home for the evening.

I do, but that's because I stop home to shower after the gym. If I could go to the gym later and go straight to work, i would skip seeing him a couple times a week.

I focus on quality, not quantity of time when it comes to spending time with my son. I might not be spending huge amounts of time with him during the week, but on the weekends, that is when we do things together. I am pretty strict about protecting that time, so during the week, I am a little more mentally/emotionally free to do what needs to get done alone.

My very first day back after maternity leave LO was already asleep when I got home and I had a melt down. I immediately changed my schedule and now I do get time in the morning and in the evening. DH occasionally misses evening time but he has 1.5 hrs with her every morning after I leave for work and before he drops her at daycare. I know there'll come a day when I don't get to see her in the mornings. She wakes up early now and I know she won't always do that so I'll have to get used to it :(

I leave for work at 6:30 so I rarely see my son on weekday mornings. My husband really likes being "in charge" of a portion of his care and missing the baby a little has been good for me because I enjoy our evenings together so much. It's worked out well for us.

I don't see DS in the mornings during the week. I leave for work and he's sleeping. It's actually easier that way, if he's awake he will want me to do breakfast, read books, etc., and it makes it hard to leave.

@Grace: same! because I miss the morning, I don't want to miss evenings as well, and he'd be with the gym babysitting because DH works nights. I leave at 7:15/30 for work. I need more hours in the day!

@MrsF: @mrsjyw: @DillonLion: @lawbee11: @Smurfette: Thanks all! Interesting to hear how everyone makes it work.

@lawbee11: I'm hopeful that I may actually be able to leave a bit early on these days because my gym is so close to work, so that may be a bonus.

I didn't think I'd have such a hard time meeting my own needs as a parent but I find it tough to change the routine for DH and LO, even when I know it's the right thing for myself.

I miss AM sometimes, but DH and I usually commute together. On days that we don't we alternate who does morning drop off and who does pick up. If I'm not dropping her in the morning then she is still asleep when I leave. DH can go in later if he wants so if we don't ride together, he and LO both sleep in.

Evenings are rare. We toggle who works out but it never encompasses the entire evening.

Yep almost always unless I have an early mtg in office or my once monthly happy hour w coworkers!

Dh has a handful of mornings or nights he misses due to his schedule.

With workouts, I try to squeeze in time between heading to work to see him or miss seeing him. I haven't worked out in the am in forever, but I think two mornings a week isn't bad and will def look into it after ds#2 is here!

Good luck mama

I only work 2 days / week but it's long days and with my long commute I'm gone almost 16 hours. I don't see the kids at all on those days (unless the baby is up overnight to nurse). It's definitely sad, but it means I get to spend the other days with them, so it's worth it for me.

I'm getting a schedule together to finally get back to regularly working out, and it will mean not seeing LO two mornings a week. We don't usually have "quality" time then, but I will miss seeing her in the AM on those days.

Does anyone else regularly miss morning or evening time with LO?
