I used to a lot (mostly stuff I made myself). I'll go through phases of eBaying, but last time I sold a lot of stuff for cheap thinking there were no listing fees. A few weeks later I was hit with such a big total quarter invoice for all the "other" fees. Ah! I ended up LOSING money on some stuff. So now I will be more selective and careful about my pricing and whether it's worth selling.

I have a couple times. Last time I unwittingly violated some obscure rule, though, and the listing was pulled. It was super annoying. There are a LOT of rules, apparently!

@Mrs. High Heels: They were vintage books and china (mostly), which I intended on selling, but we're a book loving family so if they didn't sell it was ok :D

@yoursilverlining: did you buy those things with the intention of selling? That's such a risk cuz what if they don't sell, but its amazing that you got such a huge return on them! Someone's trash is truly someone else's treasure I guess!

@Mrs. High Heels: I've found some cool vintage stuff at estate/yard sales for crazy cheap (like .10!) that sold for a huge profit, but then I remember that that isn't the norm, unfortunately!

It's fun though, to watch your item prices go up, up, up!!

@yoursilverlining: this would definitely just be for hobby money! Though one year in college (10 years ago!) my roommate's boyfriend had like 10 laptop computers shipped to our apt that he got on Black Friday, and planned to sell on ebay. That's a lil cray but I think he made a huge profit!

I do. I used to sell a lot more, and do pretty well at it (for "hobby" money, not "real" money, if you know what I mean) - I need to get back to it!

ebay can be really hit or miss; stuff I thought for sure would be hot go for meh prices and then random things people are all over. All it takes it one or two who really want the same thing, I guess! :)

I used to rarely sell on ebay because it was easier to post things on Craigslist and not worry about shipping. And the last time I posted on Ebay there were all these little fees (yeaaaars ago) they charged every time you listed.

I recently wanted to sell a BM dress that was in excellent condition, and with clothes I thought Ebay would definitely be better than Craigslist (I usually just donate clothes to Goodwill) so I went with it. It sold so fast! I was really happy for getting a 70% return on my dress. I would've been happy with 50%!

So that one experience gave me the desire to try to sell more.. First up were Noelle's Halloween costumes from the last two years. One is a common Carter's costume that I bought for $9.99 at Costco, and it was bid up to DOUBLE it's price. $20!

I'm so surprised. I can't wait to dig up more things around the house to sell that's just been sitting and collecting dust. I asked my friend who loves buying and selling on Ebay for tips and she told me she's even sold her used cheap blouses, dresses, and blazers from Forever21 and H&M for a decent return.
