I was able to do it up until a point. DD became aware that everyone else had other food because we were the only ones bringing in our own food (we wanted everything to be organic and healthier). So they had to place her in a different area to eat by herself so that she could no longer see the other kids. This worked for a while but then she figured it out and refused to eat her food so I had to cave and go with the school food. I felt bad that she had to eat in isolation anyway. Eating should also be a social experience.

I don't think you should feel like bringing in your own food is hassle, though. If your LO will eat it, then I would continue to bring it in.

Also, do you know that the menu is at your daycare? Our daycare rotates a 3-week menu and provides parents with it so that we can decide when to send food if we wish to do so. For example, one of the meals is homemade mac'n'cheese but since LO is allergic to dairy, I can ask for just plain noodles and margarine or I can send a lunch that day.

Our daycare provides a nice lunch but when LO starts next week I will be sending food only because she still only has 4 teeth and can't really eat table food very well. So until she gets more teeth or gets used to more foods, I'll be sending lunch.

Our daycare provides meals but I'm still unsure about the quality and healthiness of the food. I feel like they might be getting annoyed that we send food for her. I don't mind her having some of the school food (for example fish sticks) but also want her to have something healthy that we send (like fresh veggies, fruit smoothie, quinoa, etc). I just don't know if I am being crazy over protective and causing a hassle. Maybe there is a better way to approach sending our own food?
