I'll be watching this with interest - I'm currently trying to figure out if there's a way I can use the free kindle library on my husbands prime account without disassociating my kindle with my account and losing all the books I currently own.

@Cole: Ah neat, I will set that up!!

I think we may have to share accounts still though, because of some restriction on how Subscribe and Save interacts with Prime. Will have to research that some more!

@Cole, @MrBee: So happy to see your posts. Before I got my Kindle, and while DH had 2 (touch and fire), I borrowed his while on vacation. I used my credit card on his account to buy books. Once I got my Kindle and linked it to my Amazon account, I no longer had access to those books. I have Amazon Prime, so I could loan books to him, but he couldn't do the same. It was really frustrating, because I would have to borrow his Kindle (now singular) when I wanted to reread those books.

For ebooks, nope. DH likes real books and I'm the only one that likes and prefers ebooks. If he liked ebooks, I would share an account.

I think they may have just changed this so you can share things between linked accounts. We are still setting it up but I think it should help you.

We have Nooks, so we share our Barnes and Noble account! When we first start sharing we were getting all sorts of weird suggestions - chick lit and military history books? We must have confused the B&N algorithms.

Bee and I visit my family overseas for a few weeks every summer, and end up reading a lot of books. With physical books we could just hand them back and forth, but with Kindle books you can only loan them to someone once. So we just started sharing a single account for buying Kindle books... it's a lot easier that way. Hopefully one day, Amazon will support multiple sub-accounts just like Netflix does.
