I probably will this year. DS is 80% for height so his tops tend to need to be a size up.

I do for both kids so far. My DS will be wearing his coat from last year and my DD will wear one that is a size large this year, with sleeves rolled.

No. My LO is thin so jackets are baggy to start with, and I feel like loose fitting clothes are more likely to snag on thing and end up getting pulled/torn or stepped on and getting dirty anyway (which defeats the purpose of making it last longer). Instead of sizing up to get more wear, I just plan on DD#2 re wearing them. I try to buy classic jackets (like solid color North Face fleece, a navy polka dot Gap pea coat, etc.) that will still look stylish on her little sister two years later and can be accessorized differently for each girl.

i do with charlie but not olive. it is too baggy on her if i size up. charlie's jackets always last him two years. but i guess even if it lasted one year, he wears it everyday for at least 6 months.

@Adira: I tried on a light weight jacket I got in the spring, 18-24 and it is still big on her. So I think that should work for the whole winter. We don't need anything heavy till Dec/Jan. I am think 2T would be way to big on her.

Sort of? LO is thin so she normally fits into the ranges longer (she's 12 months and still comfortably fits into BG 6-12 months). I got her 12-18 months in her jackets/coats because she'll be 15 months when it starts to cool off and presumably into that size by then. 6-12 wouldn't last all winter and 18-24 would be huge.
