In the winter, we keep it closed to keep the warm air in. Just thinking about it is making me feel panicky, the idea of a fire in between my closed door and hers and not being able to get to her. But I'm reminding myself that 1) this is all extremely unlikely; 2) we have all those working smoke detectors; and 3) the fire station is one and a half blocks away from us and have gotten here within minutes when the buildings alarm went off. </p> <p>Going. This is freaking me out a little since while we share a wall with Cs bedroom, the doors are on opposite sides of the condo. We do have smoke detectors throughout that are VERY loud and checked by the fire department every year so I'm not terribly worried but still... </p> <p>We sleep with our door open usually, to help with air flow, but Cs door is closed. He said it was safer to sleep with doors closed because they can slow down the spread of smoke in the event of a fire.
