I try to do the carpets whenever they start to look nasty and it makes them look so much better (and the water is so gross). I really want to get a little green one (since ours is an older model and doesn't lift off for small jobs). LO has spilled food. The dog has had accidents in the house post baby. And don't even ask about the accident we've had from our 6 &amp; 4 year old niece being here this week. Without the Bissell we would've had to shell out a few hundred for a pro. </p> <p>Although because there's been numerous accidents from the dog we do plan to bring in a pro after the holidays. I was talking to the company that comes in and he said you really shouldn't clean your carpets more than every 9-12 months because it completely wears them down, and destroys them. I can't remember the brand but we did our research on consumer reports at the time to find the best brand / value and that's the one we got.
