I buy what *I* like. I'm pretty much the only one who cares. LO has no idea what she is wearing (10 months old). Most often, that ends up being clothes that are marketed for girls, I just have been finding that stuff appeals to me more.

@bluestriped bee: Love that! Only real boys were pink! I try to tell people that pink was considered a boy colour and blue a girl colour for babies as recently as 100 years ago (probably a little less). Baby/powder blue was seen as "softer" than pink, and more appropriate for the fairer sex.

Love all the responses to those that do and would put pinks and more feminine prints of their little men!

I should start by saying that I'm not really willing to pay more than retail for rare BG prints, but I have spent quite a bit of time tracking the ones I do have down at online stores across Canada. I haven't purchased any from the U.S. Due to extra shipping and the conversion rate. I don't see this changing any time soon. Sometimes I would buy a print that is $1-3 more than a solid, but I'd do the same for his clothes, too. I'd get bored dressing him in the same everyday.

@Youboots: We don't really need any more diapers, so it's just a hypothetical at this point. If/when we do get pregnant, I will probably buy the prints I like, regardless of gender. We have mostly boy-themed or gender-neutral prints, and blues/greens (my fav colours), but also a few girlier ones.

@Ms Maths: DS seems to like purples and pinks, too, from the balls that he gravitated to at circle time or in the pool. We'll see how he feels once he's verbal and expressing an opinion. I love Lovelace too, but could never find it.

@Avivoca: @PeachyKeen: If/when we get pregnant, I will have this conversation with DH. I'd like to CD from the second week (after the mec is done with), but only with AIOs, and they are pricy (even used) for such a short period. I'd have to do some calculations to see if it's cost-effective for us.

@peachykeen: I think I'm going to buy newborn fitted diapers from Green Mountain Diapers. They will require covers but I have small newborn covers already. I just don't like using prefolds.

I bought a bunch used, so I took whatever was available. The few I bought new I chose the colors I liked best, which were a mix of greens, blues, pinks, and purples. My son's favorites seemed to the ones that were for girls. He is switching to undies right now, but when he picked out his diaper he often chose fuschia, purple, or BG lovelace. (He loves bright pink/purple in general, though.)

@avivoca: Have you found any good deals on newborns? We didn't CD until 2 months with our 1st and I really want to start from birth next time (not pregnant, just planning!). This will probably be our last babe, though, so I'm not sure whether I can justify the cost of newborn CDs to DH without a good deal...

BG does not have a ton of prints- but I would buy boy specific ones. I would put a future son in the solids pink & purples.

When I was starting my CD stash while TTC, I made sure to buy only gender neutral prints. Now that my b/g twins are here, I'm really loving the prints and want to add some more prints (that are both gender neutral and gender specific).

Yeah, there was a time where I wanted to save money and get the best price and best use out of them for future kids. But then seeing super cute prints, I convinced myself to pay a little extra for prints. Also, I guess resale value on BG prints are pretty high that I could make 70% or more back of my money. I do have to remember when I buy anything to think if I'll really love the print and that I could get less than 70% back. But used BG diapers are already selling for 50% of what I bought them for.

Oh, DH and I both have put girly print on our son. It's a clean diaper and it's only for us to see. I did send a pic of my son in a pink diaper to my sister (who also CDs) and told her 'Only real boys wear pink' ;)

@PeachyKeen: I have both the fox prints, but I definitely prefer the boy one myself, as well.

@Avivoca: I know, so many cute prints! We don't really need any more but I would love to have the Perky Perennials and Destiny prints. I'm holding off buying any new diapers for awhile, unless we get pregnant in the next few months. In which case, we'll have 2 in diapers, so we'll probably need more. I know what I'll be buying!

At first I stuck mainly with solid colors so they would be gender neutral, but then I got sucked in by all the cute RAR prints and now we have a bunch of prints. If #2 is a boy, he's going to be rocking some awesome pink and floral diapers in addition to the solids, plaids, and chevron diapers I have.

Both! I have a girl but don't like anything extremely girly. We have pink and purple solid colors, but I would put those on a boy too! When Rumparooz released the fox diapers, I picked the 'boy' version because I liked the colors better. Most of our prints aren't really cartoon-y or themed, though (we use mostly BG) so I haven't run into this decision a whole lot.

So happy to see that so many others put their kid in cute prints no matter the intended gender. I have a few prints that are fairly "girly" that I put DS in, but I bought them because I like them. I have, but haven't opened yet, the BG Audrey print (I'm an AH fan!), but haven't done so because I worry that it's too girly.

@T.H.O.U.: I feel like boy clothes are a lot more gender neutral than girl clothes, don't you think? I think that most of the boy clothes I own would have been fine for a baby girl, but my friend had a boy second and it felt so strange seeing him in little cupcake sleepers.

For diapers, I'd buy anything. For clothes, my son has a mix - a lot of blues/greens/greys, but those are the colours that I prefer personally, most of my wardrobe is the same. He has a few pink polos and some red stuff. Basically I buy whatever I think would look cute on him.

If you have a girl, do you buy prints with flowers or butterflies and solid pinks/fuchsias, or do you buy typical "boy" prints with robots, fire engines, and blue/greys?

Conversely, would you buy a flower print or pastel pink diapers for your boy?
