I always felt like it was such an expensive outing and it never made sense to pay pretty much the same amount you would pay to just buy the movie. We have very different tastes in movies so usually we just rent and watch on our own. We almost never watch at home either... I get so tired that it's hard for me to sit and look at the screen for two hours. For an evening 3-D film for 2 adults plus some food, it set us back almost $50! Throw in a baby sitter, and the cost will become ridiculous. I'm happy to wait a few months and watch most movies on netflix. We have a nice big TV w/ a nice sound system at home. We go all the time, probably once a week. He works shift work so he often has days off in the middle of the week. That allows us to go to an early morning movie where the tickets are only $5 a piece. Next on our list is to see The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. I've been waiting months for it to come out. He would read the reviews and give me a couple of choices because I don't want to know anything about a movie before seeing it. </p> <p>Now that we have kids, it seems like a waste of our time + babysitter to watch a movie. I feel like we have to go out to dinner or do something where we can actually talk to each other since our kid-free outings are so limited.</p> <p>With Hulu, Netflix, Amazon on demand and pay per view, we just watch movies at home now.
