We have a small house so it's easy to hear her when she wakes up, but she often doesn't make noise. I use it with the sound on if I am outside or far away from her room while she is asleep. But at night I found it was waking me up when she was just coughing or restless so we keep the sound all the way down. Our house has all hard wood floor, so you can hear him cry if you are on the main level or in our bedroom. I probably will until she's much older! haha the lo I nannied had a video monitor until she was over 3, and it was hilarious to watch her during her naps (well, her 'rest' - she would play quietly in her room). Plus, DH likes to have a loud fan on beside him. So I wouldn't really be able to hear her unless I had the monitor. I leave the sound on when DH and I are downstairs still up and about. I have started turning it back on really low so I hear her if she starts getting crazy. We stopped a month ago but started again last night.
