We switched to a tighter swaddle when he transitioned to the crib at around 11-12 weeks, and then switched to a sleep sack a bit shy of 6 months. Wagon Jr. could not sleep if he broke out of the swaddle even a tiny bit so we had to swaddle like crazy. When we had to wean from the swaddle we had to stand there and hold his arms down until he was in a deep sleep! He slept well being swaddled but 3 nights ago he decided that he hated it, so we've been putting him to sleep without. We are about to hit the 4-month mark which is the usual swaddle-wean age. And I'm so scared! We had to swaddle him our he'd wake up from his moro reflex, he'd be hitting his face all the time or doing sudden jerks that would startle him. Swaddling is almost like a 'time for sleep!' cue for us. If your LO doesn't need to be swaddled then consider yourself lucky!
