Only if it's a local area code. If it's across the country or something, I pretty much know it's either a wrong number, or more likely, a telemarketer. I even get them calling on my government cell phone now!

Usually not. If I recognize the number as local I might, but honestly I hardly ever answer my phone anyway. It's always on silent!

No I always prefer them to leave messages for me to call back. There's just too much spamming and also money related scams now.

Yes, it's usually from one of two local area codes and it tends to be related to LO's medical care. Before he was born the calls were never for me, but now I get several calls a week from doctor's offices!

This is so timely as I noticed two missed calls from local numbers I did not recognize yesterday. I chalked it up to misdials but then I got two calls last and three this morning from those same numbers looking for the same person- unfortunately that person is not me and they just kept calling after I explained they had the wrong number!! I finally had to block them after the two 7:30 am calls this morning! So strange.

No, not unless it's a local number AND I'm expecting a call from a local business/medical office. If they don't leave a message, I google them, usually find out it's some kind of scam, and block them. My windows phone lets me block up to 1000 numbers!

I try to add anyone I'll actually want to talk to to my contact list so I know who's calling.

Nope. If it looks familiar (as in, I'm pretty sure they've called before and not left a voicemail), I'll hand it to DH to answer. I've gotten calls from the same old person a lot before, and he was finally able to convince them I wasn't the person they were looking for.

Only if it's soon after I called a similar number. The other day I called a window treatments company, and figured an incoming call with the same area was them. I was right. I'm pretty good about adding "random" numbers to my contacts so I don't miss people I actually want to speak to.

I used to pick up calls now and then but I just got so many telemarketing calls on my cellphone! I started googling the numbers and labeling them on my phone so when they called later it shows up as "cruise line spam" or "boat horn spam". Been surprised that most of the telemarketing calls come from the same few numbers! A few still slip through.

Now I only pick up for numbers I don't recognize when it's a local area code calling during the school day - could be the kids' preschool or Kindergarten. Or if I'm expecting a call from someone.

Do you take calls when you don't recognize the caller's phone number?
