If it fell on a day we weren't open or they couldn't give us that particular day for whatever reason we got the next available day so having a birthday on a Saturday or Sunday was the best because then I got a 3 day weekend.</p> <p>Next job was teaching. As a nurse at the first hospital I worked at, we all got Birthday Holidays... it was paid time off. I work for myself so usually i purposely dont schedule anything for that day, I remember my favorite birthday a few years ago, my husband pretended to go off to work in the morning as usual. And then he came back half an hour later with flowers and spent the whole day with me! He had already arranged the day off and left in the AM to trick/surprise me.
