@Veggiemama: @GoGoSnoGirl: We decided on disposables. I'm starting to get all the kids stuff together to pack and don't know if we'll have room to pack cloth diaper and cloth wipes. Plus, DS is peeing out of his NB CD's at night so I definitely didn't want to pack newborn and OS diapers.

I'm impressed you're even considering it! We used disposable diapers for both a long road trip & an airplane trip, both 7-10d trips & both times staying with family. For the 2nd trip I had to return 1 bag of unopened diapers b/c they ended up being too small, so I was glad to have just gotten what we needed for that trip once we got there. CDs just seemed like too much laundry & stuff to stage since we were just changing LO on the floor in our room or the living room.

@bluestriped bee: oh good! Just thought I would mention it as I was completely caught off guard and had to change my whole plan. I ended up having diapers shipped there from Amazon so I didn't have to pack so many.

@birdofafeather: ohhhh... I have flip with disposable inserts. But I have transitioned the twins to one sized diapers yet.

@Veggiemama: I'm staying at my sister's. She has never CD'd before but my other sister does CD. I would assume my sister has washed her diapers at least once at my other sister's house.

With DS we used to pack along CD for all of our driving trips but no flying trips. With DD we use disposables for all trips, I am just less idealistic about it all now LOL. I think there is a place for both!

Is the person you're staying with okay with you washing cloth diapers in their washing machine? I mentioned bringing them on a trip with family and my family member was mortified that I would wash the diapers at her house.

Otherwise if you have a good routine down I think it's totally doable!

Another vote for disposables while traveling. You're going to be on vacation with babies, you won't want to be doing any more laundry than necessary! Plus, there's a learning curve to changing cloth diapers, so you may be offered less help.

@T.H.O.U.: yeah, we will be going straight to a house.

DS is actually between newborn and OS diapers. Though, I think I found a way to increase absorbency in the NB size.

Disposables when we travel. We do a lot of activities and moving around when we travel and so don't want to deal with washing and drying all the time, plus the space they take up in the suitcase. Buying one pack of disposables is pretty cheap.

YES if we're driving and have access to laundry at our destination. I've used disposables several times while flying and they are so much less dependable with leaks. I've actually considered bring a couple covers on our plane trips to put over the disposable, haha, but haven't tried that yet.

We are pretty protective of our daughter's sleep and it took ages to find diaper solutions that worked for that, so we bring her overnight and naptime cloth diapers when we travel. We do disposables for the rest of the time though.

We also determined our stash took up too much space after multiple trips to family bringing it all. We switched to disposables for travel and it's pretty simple. If you're visiting family, I would just have diapers delivered there.

If you have the space and depending on how many diapers you go through, it might not be a big deal to bring them all for the twins though because a two week trip and Twins is a lot of diapers! With disposables, you have space back on the return trip.

I wouldn't. I think of using cloth diapers as similar to using dishes. Would it be easier and more convenient to eat all my meals off of paper plates? Sure, but I don't do that, I wash my dishes every night. However, there are still certain times when it makes sense to use disposable plates, and there are times it makes sense to use disposable diapers.

I have just done disposables on anything longer than an overnight trip. For me, it was overwhelming enough to get my baby and myself across the country, so I sent a box of disposables to my parents house via Amazon. It depends on what you think will work for you.

Yep. I do, but I don't think they are that complicated... I bring my hangers for drying, detergent, wet bags and diaper cream (coconut oil). We don't have a sprayer. I pretty much even just bring the containers we store stuff in at home, so I can set up when we arrive. If you are operating out of one base for two weeks it shouldn't be that much different even with day trips. I would find it more work to figure out how many disposables I need!

I should add though that I am pretty comited to not buying disposables after all the money I spent on cloth.

Are you going straight to a house? Or will there be multiple days of events and traveling.

Honestly even just the space that diapers take up is a lot. Plus trying to travel with kids is tough. So one less thing makes sense
