I don't generally chat at other appointments, but once there was this sweet elderly lady at my PCP who asked about my knitting, and I did talk to her until she was called in. I didn't particularly want to chat, but she was very nice and seemed lonely so I considered it my good deed for the day. I hate talking to strangers ... Especially at the hospital. When I was waiting for my 2 hour gestational diabetes test, a chatty guy sat next to me. He told me all about how his daughter was born without a vaginal opening, a missing kidney, and her anus was where her vagina should have been. Then, he proceeded to tell me about how his wife left him with the baby. Oy!!! This all started when I was wearing ear buds AND reading a book. I try to make it very obvious that I don't like being talked to, but some people are so desperate for conversation!! Usually people like to try and strike up a complaint party about the wait time. My doctors office is very busy and high in demand so the wait times are usually long. I don't like to hear people complain and I don't do it myself. I bring a book to kill the time and just enjoy the time to focus on my LO and the excitement with my DH.
