Yes. I'm a nurse so I tend to think the worst case scenario when it comes to myself.

@yoursilverlining: haha! That made me lol

Not anymore! I banned myself from all medical websites and/or self diagnosing after I convince myself I had MRSA and went sobbing to my doctor...turns out it was just a weird looking bruise. After that, I banned myself from WebMD; I was sufficiently shamed!

DH and I webmd all the time, just to get an idea of what things could be... if it's something really off, then we schedule an appt and go in with an estimate of whta we think the doc will say~

When I was in nursing school I got paranoid about having symptoms of serious illnesses, but everyone in my class did that! When I was in my psych rotation, I was convinced everyone around me was mentally ill (if you read the DSM-IV-TR, and read the diagnostic criteria to many disorders just the right way, you could apply them to almost anyone!)

Now I am way more relaxed about things, and I don't jump to conclusions, in fact DH thinks I am not concerned enough about things.

You ladies are so much better than me. I don't even do it as background research. I literally convince myself (at the time) that i have the disease or whatever. Like if somebody asked me at that time, I'd say I'm 99% sure!

I need to back off the internet.

Yup! But I always seek a second opinion after consulting dr google, as he tends to be a bit of an alarmist=P

That would be a yes.... but I'm not one to jump to conclusion of "worst case scenario" so the times something has actually come up to go see the doctor I wasn't "off". If I didn't research things in journals and books via the internet DH would've convinced himself he was dying atleast ten times over. lol

I do preliminary research with Dr.Google, then I ask DH what he thinks (in med school) and only if we think it's actually something I go to a doctor. But usually DH is like- "you're crazy" so I never make it to the doc.

I google EVERYTHING and self diagnose. I’m especially bad with doing it about my pregnancy. I was literally shocked at my last OB appointment that my cervix was looking perfect! I’d convinced myself that it was funneled and shortening and that I was losing my mucus plug (thanks 2nd tri discharge!!!). I tend to go a little overboard ;)

yuppers! while i was pregnant i had to make myself NOT go on and google EVERYTHING! I can get bad...DH just rolls his eyes and laughs at me when i tell him i've got something wrong. 1st week PP i was convinced something was wrong with my c-section incision, had a UTI and a few other things. of course i was wrong and i'm fine lol

Yes I do this all the time, but I'm aware that it's only for gathering info on what it COULD be. I always go in and see my doctor too. I'm right probably 50% of the time.

Yes. I see Dr. Google pretty frequently. Although, I don't always listen to him. I know he has the tendency to freak me out and make me become an hypercondriac. If it's really serious, I'll see my real doctor.

I always look things up but refuse to believe whenever Dr. Google diagnoses me with something serious. ;) If I scare myself enough, I'll make a doctor's appointment. DH is much worse; he has every rare disease and genetic disorder on the planet.

I do this all the time and it drives my husband nuts. I'm usually totally off too but I can't help researching ailments and symptoms on the internet! Already this year, I was convinced I had thyroid cancer and restless leg syndrome. And this weekend, I was 99% convinced my son was on the autism spectrum because he clicked his tongue when I asked him to say "SIX!". My friend who works with autistic kids (yes, I called her) was cracking up when I told her. She said "You're teaching him the word six? That's hard for a toddler who's just learning to talk? Teach him Ball or Dog!"

Do you ever self-diagnose? Are you usually wrong or right?
