I don't think I ever tested before my period came back, but I def re-stocked pregnancy tests after it came back because it was really irregular for a few months. We were using condoms so unlikely but still worrying. I'm still nursing at 18m and just got back on the pill recently, but I prob had about 3 cycles in the past year where my period was late and I tested

We use condoms unless actively trying, and that included the entire time I was nursing--weaned at 12 months and got my period back a month later. But yeah, not a killer frequency that year...
Maybe it's really naive but it never occurs to me that condoms would fail because we're consistent. @Silva: just curious, do you ever anticipate that they'll fail you even if you're using them the way you're supposed to?

I've gotten super nauseous pretty quickly after my bfps, so I figure if I'm pregnant (period hasn't returned but we're preventing) soon enough there won't be doubts :silly:

I thought about it but I don’t think I did between kids. I didn’t get my period back the entire time I was nursing- so like 20 months. There was a couple times I felt weird, including one time I knew we had screwed up pull out, but i was away and didn’t have a test on me (it was nothing).

Now after baby two I have mirena and hardly get a period so I got a cheap pack on amazon so I can make sure.

Yes! I keep internet cheapies around! Even though it’d be highly unlikely AND I get hit with bad morning sickness early on so I’m pretty sure I’d know 😂

We weren’t preventing, but I got pregnant 8 months post-partum while nursing exclusively (minus a small amount of solids for fun) and without getting my cycle back. I just randomly had a feeling and took a test. Turns out I was 4 weeks (so 2 weeks past conception) and it was the earliest possible day that test could have worked. My symptoms started about a week later. It was crazy, but you never know! I would go get a test just so you won’t have to wonder.

After DD1, I tested with Wondfos about once a month because we were using condoms or pulling out and I wasn't used to not getting my period (came back at 10 months postpartum). After my first, I was pregnant with #2 (intentionally! haha) at 14 months postpartum.

After DD2, I have only taken one test and it was because my period was late. We want a larger gap between #2 and a potential #3, so we've been much more careful this time (still just using the very official pullout method, but we're more aware of timing and all that). Plus, my period has been more regular since it came back at 11 months PP, so that has helped.

I have a few times, but I haven't had a really good reason to. I got my period back around 4 months PP both times regardless of nursing round the clock :crying: I'm taking meds that are fine for nursing but not the best for pregnancy, though, so I do test if I feel weird around the right time.

ETA and DH has actually had a vasectomy, too, so my paranoia is even more unreasonable!

I did on occasion. I was on the minipill but I’d heard enough stories of people getting pregnant on it that I didn’t trust it 100%. In the end I wish I’d just gotten a batch of internet cheapies and just taken one every few weeks to keep myself sane, rather than suddenly not being able to shake the “what if” and having to run to the store.

I have once or twice. Not because I had symptoms. Just was double checking because what if?! It would have been super unlikely though.

I never did...but we rarely have sex during the first 6 months (I've gotten my period back at 8 months both times), and we always use condoms when we are avoiding pregnancy.

I have PCOS and DH has low morph, so a spontaneous pregnancy is unlikely, especially given our low (current) frequency and my period being suppressed by nursing every 4ish hours night or day (6 months postpartum). BUT I had some pregnancy symptoms this weekend and I thought it was weird that I noticed, so I thought about taking a test but didn't have any on hand! I ordered some but I still think maybe I'm being crazy. Anyways, did you test sometimes during period suppression?

ETA: we use condoms or p-n-p.
