@PrincessBaby: I had a moses basket that was great for that stage - my baby slept in it on the stand, and I could bring it into the kitchen or bathroom. She could wiggle around and look in the mirror I'd put in it, but she couldn't wiggle out.

@sarac: H can't roll over yet (almost 12 wks) but she wriggles and writhes around and she definitely gets around some! She will also grab edges of blankets or burpy bibs and put in her mouth or cover her face- I really do have to monitor her! If she's awake and being her busy wiggleworm self, then I don't trust her, lol!

@babyjmama: it was lovely :) She was in the bouncer and I chatted away to her the whole time. She looked at me strangely at first (even she thinks I need to lose my baby weight, ha) but was grinning her face off by the end. I'll do this more often!

I hope you had a lovely stress free shower! I was always paranoid too and would wait until he went to bed. I started showering before bed and just letting my hair air dry (even though I look like the creepiest person EVER by morning) and y hair is healthier than ever (bonus!). That's totally beside the point though. :)

Dh would always put him in his bouncer when he showered if he wasn't napping :)

I have a girlfriend who just had a baby a few months ago. She recently called a nearby family member and asked her to come over for a bit to babysit while she showered. Family member comes over, find that the baby has been asleep for an hour in the swing, and happily sits there reading a book while my friend showered.

I couldn't help but (gently, lovingly!) laugh when I heard this. A baby who can't roll over is utterly safe in a swing, mat, etc. Lock your doors. Have a smoke detector. Shut the dog out of the room. Then dear goodness, take a shower. Your sleeping baby will be utterly safe and happy and fine, and you will be delightfully clean.

Maybe I'm the odd one out, but I've definitely left LO in a room by himself (either in his room in his crib) or in the swing in the living room while I shower! I hustle through, and he's always just where I left him, happy as a clam. We also don't have anything that I could easily bring into the bathroom with me though.

@travelgirl1: I would wake him up briefly and tell him that you'll have her in the doorway or in the bathroom so he knows jic he gets up (his sleep is not as important as this info- lol)...And I would think a quick shower wouldn't produce enough steam to worry about...

I wake DH to tell him things like "I'm going to put my contacts in and pee and I'm leaving H propped on the Boppy on our bed...So be careful bc she's right here..."

@mrsmate: She's 15 weeks but is in a Pavlik harness so won't be able to roll over until it's off her. The play mat had toys that move overhead to keep her interested. Thinking the bouncer chair in the bathroom could be the answer...

@PrincessBaby: do you think she'd be okay with the steam? I'd be a bit scared of putting the mat in the doorway as ifDH did get up and wasn't looking when he opened the bedroom door he could step on her. I don't like the bouncer chair at the moment as it squishes her legs a bit in the harness but maybe the bouncer in the bathroom but having a colder shower so less steam is the answer? I'm such a rookie. But I need to get out of this germ trap ASAP, lol.

Could you bring her in the bathroom so you can look out while you're showering?
I used to be J in the Rock N Play in the bathroom and play peek-a-boo with the shower door while I was in there. I don't think it would've been safe to leave him in another room. They learn how to get around and out of things when you turn your back for a second.

Can you bring her mat to the doorway or something? I prop H in her Snugabunny chair so I can see her...I like to have eyeballs on her bc she is such a wiggler and I'm finding that she is getting so strong I have to watch her constantly....Yesterday I cut up a chicken breast with my back to her and when I turned around, she was literally about to slide out of her Snugabunny swing! We hadn't used the straps before but starting today we are! So I would just move A's mat where you can see her or put her ona blanket near the shower?

I usually put her in her crib but germy DH is sleeping in our room right now and don't want to wake him or put her in there while he's coughing.

Do you think she'd be okay on her play mat on the living room floor while I get a super quick shower (next room, door open) or would this be too risky? There aren't any falling hazards nearby.
