@Mama Bird: Ditto - LO's had ice cream a couple of times after supper, and it's caused crazy bedtime shenanigans...I've put a stop to that. I haven't noticed a similar effect during the day, but I'm probably not as aware.

Does the stuff with food dye also have lots of sugar? I guess this is different for every kid, but I've noticed that if DS has candy or honey at dinner it takes him forever to fall asleep. Doesn't bother him if it's in the daytime though...

I have never noticed anything with my LOs, but I definitely believe different foods can affect behavior.

With my son, no, but I do believe for some people, food and food additives can trigger reactions and changes in behavior.

My friends son goes crazy if he has chocolate- like one Hershey's kiss after dinner and it takes him hours to fall asleep. And he is a kid who has gone to sleep no problem since like 12 weeks old!

I haven't noticed anything specific with my LO.

I honestly think when my 3 year old eats food that has food dyes in it, her tantrums heighten to a ridiculous extreme and she's hard to manage. I guess I don't know if that's the only culprit but cutting it out has really helped. Of course cutting sugary processed foods to begin with is a good choice., I am very laid back about food but have had to start limiting certain things because of the pattern I noticed. If she's at a party, or has a snack at school that has dyes I just let it slide.

Do any certain foods affect your LO's behavior? How did you figure out the cause?

Does anyone think there's no way food can cause behavior issues and it's coincidental but something else entirely?
