@meredithNYC: I've tried the recovery in the afternoons, but it doesn't work.

@goldilocks1107: Interesting, thanks! He's doing pretty well at night now, though he does take more time to fall asleep arms free. Yesterday he did fall asleep in his crib for a nap...but woke 15 mins later.

Regardless, I think next week is weaning the swing for his morning nap...

We tried weaning A off her swaddle by swaddling naps and not swaddling at night. Tt seemed to work best going "cold turkey", but it did take a few days for her to get the hang of falling asleep with her arms free. At night, if she's waking herself up, I'll just hold her arms down in the position she likes them the most until she's asleep. Then let them go and they don't bother her.

But, sometimes she gets a bug up her butt and just won't nap, no matter how tired she it. When that happens, I put her in the baby k'tan and wear her around until she passes out. I don't like having her nap that way, but sometimes it's the lesser of two evils.

Hmm.... I don't know. I mean, generally I would say try and get him to nap in the crib, BUT, I know very well how scary it is to chance it on making that move when you really, really need that few hours of nap time. If you did try and put him in the crib but that didn't work, could you "recover" by then putting him in the swing? Or, if he freaks out about the crib will he be reluctant to nap afterwards at all? If it's the former, I would say try it out. If the latter, not so sure...

We're not swaddling at night anymore and T is doing pretty well with it. I have continued to swaddle and put him in his swing for his morning nap (um, b/c he naps sometimes 2-3 hours in it). The rest of the day it is a real struggle to get him to nap at all (swing, no swing, swaddle, no swaddle, etc). I'm wondering if I'm confusing him by swaddling and swinging him in the morning? I didn't want to change too many things at once so wanted to let him get used to no swaddle for a little while, but maybe I should nap him no swaddle in his crib for his morning nap, too. Thoughts? Thanks : )
