Italy's legal system is subpar. Italy has a legit legal system, and even though there are differences (and I would not want to be subjected to the Italian system),we have a (valid extradition) treaty with Italy (although we have not always strictly adhered to same). Most importantly, the US is in the process of trying to get Edward Snowden back. We can't deny Italy's request without seriously inhibiting our ability to extradite Snowden.
