I hope so! I only have one degree (BA) so far, and it's pretty useless, but my MA (in progress) will be the one to launch a career. I hope my daughter either has a more useful bachelors (and/) or a masters, or even further! Whatever will bring her the career she wants. Then again, if she decides to do something else (start her own business, join the military) that would be ok too, although I would hope she'd eventually get a degree to open more doors for herself, even if she starts a career before getting a degree.

Oh and I also have a useful certificate.

Maybe, but only if he wants to. DH has a BS and I have a BA and JD. We'd definitely expect him to get a BS/BA but beyond that I'm not sure. Whatever he wants to do will be fine by me if it makes him happy.

We each have a BA. I also have my CPA license. I hope LO at least earns a BA in a field he can support himself (i.e. not General Studies, but Accounting, Engineering, etc.)

We expect her to go to college and get a BA/BS, but she doesn't have to have a masters degree. We both finished grad school and we think it's important. I've been looking for jobs and there are so many looking for people who have a graduate degree. It depends on what field she goes into.

I have a master's degree, which is needed to be a physician assistant. Not sure if my son will match me, but I would like him to at least obtain a bachelor's degree.

Maybe? Maybe not? I have my Masters degree plus 75 extra credits (including my Educational Administration certificate). Since I work in education a Masters degree was necessary. So I chose to get my Masters in a field that would give me a second teaching certification. I am certified in History 7-12 (from my Bachelors), Library Media K-12 (from my Masters), and Building/District Educational Leadership K-12 (from my extra credits).

DH has his Bachelors. He works for a local news station so a Masters isn't necessary in his Communications field.

As long as my child gets a Bachelors I will be happy. I feel like a college education is an important foundation for most professions.

Yes - we expect LO to get her BA at a minimum (just like our parents' unspoken expectation was for both of us); my husband has his PhD so we dont expect her to match that, but would be extremely happy if she did!! Honestly, I really hope she gets more than just her BA.

I will have a phd when I finish grad school, so that's a hard minimum to set for someone else! it just would depend on if our future lo would love school as much as I do. I'll be happy as long as long as he or she (or they) are doing something they love. I'm definitely a "live to work" rather than "work to live" kind of person, I think it's really important to find a career that you're really passionate about.

I hope that our future LO will go to college and get the a BS. Although, I see from my sister and brother that you don't need a BS to be successful.

I have a masters in social work, which is basically a requirement for the work that I do (therapist). My husband is an MD.
I worry a little about our kid feeling pressured to pursue med school because my husband's family has a weird thing with it. His mom pushed all of her kids in a way that makes me uncomfortable.

I'd like for my kids to at least go to college. I think the experience can bean important one, even if you end up doing something unrelated to your studies later on.

I would love if my kids matched or exceeded our degrees, we both have M.A. We also are both educators and I expect my kids to at least get some sort of post H.S. education. Now whether they want to go to college or have a set career path in mind (that they can support themselves with) and want to attend a vocational school, that is their choice.

I have a MA (in...MUSEUM STUDIES!!!), and my hubs only has a bachelor's. His is definitely worth much more in terms of career value and potential earnings. I think that I would want my kids to decide to get some kind of further education, but I would be supportive of any kind, and would not force them into university of their interests lie in a different area!

I have a bachelor's and a post-grad diploma, and am not really using either of them. If LO doesn't 'match' that, I'm fine with it. However, its important to me that she goes to either college or university.

I just got a HS and a Bachelor's degree, so I think the kids will match or exceed me. If they don't graduate from college, that won't bother me as long as they have a plan.

I am not sure how I feel about grad school in general... I've seen a lot of people get deep in debt from grad school, without necessarily getting a career benefit. But in some cases, I can see how it is an important career step in certain industries. So in my limited observations, it's kind of seemed like a case-by-case sorta thing... will keep my eyes peeled though!

Do you think your kids will get as many degrees as you did?
