Oh she's smart all right. But just around us. Not when other people are around. Haha.... I try to video stuff so other people can confirm how amazingly advanced she is. :-) Then, I can forget about all the not-so-smart moments. Or should I say, "acting her age."

@looch: HAHA. He was testing the wall for structural sound!

I think LM is smart, but again, I'm her mama. We're not often in a group setting with other kids so I can't compare and I hate charting developmental milestones against books or "What your 1 month old should be doing" types of lists.

Well, who's going to post that their kid is a dumb-a**? My kid understands simple commands in two languages, but this afternoon, he was head butting the wall.

I think parents and grandparents "pull their own kids ahead," a simple translation from something my mom said while we were visiting last month.

I do but not because of verbal ability. Similar to what Red said, I have seen my LO's problem solving skills in action and that is what impresses me more than how many words she knows or how well she can put together a sentence. I feel like that is a true measure of how smart you are going to be as an adult so I feel proud when I see glimpses of those skills.

I know I'm totally biased but I think LO is either very smart or very well-trained. She seems to understand a lot of the things I tell her and follows directions pretty well. She's amazed us more than a few times with how she's problem-solved (ie. moving her toy over to the cabinet so that she can step on it to grab the remote, lol). There are also times when she has this look of concentration on her face and I can totally imagine the little hamsters in her head running on the wheel. Can you tell I'm a proud mama?

At five months .... she's a baby genius! Really though, I just hope she has her daddy's brains.

She's a smarty pants for sure. She's also just shy of 5 months lol. I think she's been right on point if not ahead a little on all of the developmental milestones.

My parents think LO is a genius. They have zero basis for this, though. They just love LO to bits and think she's perfect. :D

I think LO is bright - she's determined. And that's all I can tell from her at 5 months. :)

Ok most parents think that their lo's are cute, but do they also think that their lo's are smart?

daycare tells us that charlie is far ahead verbally than all the kids his age and a little older. does that mean he's smart? probably not, but i'd like to think he is smart-ish. :-)

is your lo smart?
