I tend to throw away produce, which I hate. Primarily it's because it's still just the two of us. Sometimes DH is not home for dinner. Now I try to buy as little as possible and just walk to the market when I need something instead of buying large amounts. We'll see what happens when the baby comes.

We're actually pretty good about not wasting food. We go grocery shopping once a week and I make a menu. We only buy produce for that week. I eat leftovers for lunch. We don't usually have a lot to throw away. I also try to make sure I don't make too much. We used to waste a lot of produce. It's nice to have overcome that problem!

We tend to mostly have to throw away fruits and vegetables :'( It's so hard to eat grapes or broccoli every day until it's gone.

Not as much as I used too. Ever since I bought a juicer and a dehydrator, I've been able to salvage a lot of fruits and veggies. Ripe fruits get dehydrated or pureed and made into fruit rollups. Older veggies get juiced with a mix of fruit.

I've also been better about freezing leftovers if I don't think they'll be eaten within 2 days. Plus is that it makes a handy meal when I don't want to cook.

We don't toss much, because we do ~2 small grocery trips per week instead of big trips less often, so we only buy what we need immediately.

We do because Hubby won't eat anything close to the expiration date or on it. I'm really bad about getting a lot of stuff and then forgetting that I bought it, like produce and stuff. I'm trying to shop more (once a week) and buy fewer items each week, like only what is on the menu. I'm really hoping to make this a habit this school. year. I will HAVE to bring my lunch every day because I can't leave my class to go pick something up. When I was a specialty teacher, I didn't have a class that I needed to sit with at lunch, so I could go and pick something up if I forgot to pack my lunch. This year, no way!

Not too much, but sometimes. What happens is some of the leftovers of foods not eaten as often (such as tortillas) get shoved to the back of the fridge and I don't realize it. So when I clean out the fridge everytime I go grocery shopping, I throw it out.

For the most part, DH takes leftovers to work and that takes care of leftovers. I always do a meal plan so that each thing I buy gets eaten as well. But sometimes there are things we can't eat quite as quickly

We try not to. My husband eats leftovers for lunch. However every couple weeks I clear out the fridge and we have more waste than I'd like.

I don't throw away cooked food as much as I do with uncooked produce. But I do throw away some of Nicholas' food when he doesn't finish some of it b/c it's not enough to save. My husband gets on my case about letting fresh produce go to waste. I don't blame him... Sometimes I'm just too tired to cook but I buy them thinking I'm going to cook it. Trying to be better though. Although, I currently have a whole pack of persimmons in the fridge going bad... Oops...

We're pretty good about eating things before they go bad. I have big guilt if something goes bad before we eat it. I try to go through our fridge just briefly once a week to make sure nothing's slipped to the bottom and if we're starting to have a lot of veggies go soft then we just make a stir fry.

I cook a big dinner most nights and then husband takes in the leftovers plus some fruit for lunch the next day or we'll have a leftover dinner one day.

I also don't hesitate to cut mold off cheese or a bad piece of an apple away instead of throwing the whole thing away. Can't do that for everything but for some things it is safe.

Yes but mainly because DH forgets about left overs...if I want them gone, I have to make his lunch in the morning. Also, I'm the only one who eats fruit in our house so those go bad quickly too ;-/

Yeah because of me. I'm a picky eater so I might not finish my food. The DH will eat anything so he doesn't throw away a lot of food. Well, he has been trying to lose weight so he can't eat my portion.

We throw away a lot too. I feel so bad about all the wasted food. Especially when my LO stuffs an entire strawberry in her mouth, spits it out and tosses it on the floor.
There are children in Africa who are starving, little girl!!!!!

Yep we do. We're terrible. It's because Charlie usually doesn't finish whatever I make for him, then I don't eat it either because I don't like leftovers, and Mr Bee eats different things than what Charlie eats, so we end up throwing away a lot of leftovers.

I don't know how to be better about this, because we all eat different things. I regularly cook completely different meals for all of us.

Are you good about eating all your leftovers and using all produce you buy?
