Agree with PP....I find Amazon to be the cheapest when the item is being sold by them and not a third party seller just using the Amazon Marketplace. Perfect example, I was looking at those Little People play sets and found one I liked and checked Amazon...it was $94!! What? Then I realized it was being sold by a third party....I did a Google search and found it at Toys R Us for $45....

I always Google search to price compare!

This came up this weekend because my husband was telling me that walmart price matches amazon. So we were browsing for Christmas stuff and I told him to compare to amazon and everything was atleast $10 more.

I always price check using the PriceJump extention. Amazon is almost always cheapest (if the items are sold by Amazon, not 3rd parties like the item you linked), but sometimes I can get a better price at Target because of my redcard. I never just assume that Amazon is cheapest though. However, if I am unsure of prices in-store I am always checking Amazon on my phone. :P

I usually look to see how the sale price compares but don't look into how the regular price compares. Usually Amazon beats the price, but Target or Costco sometimes wins.

Also, the link you showed above is not an item that 'Amazon' has in it's warehouse. It's another company. Maybe that's where the price gouging is... with the 3rd party company.

I never assume that Amazon has the best prices (so I check other places to make sure) but I do tend to find that they usually do (or it maybe costs a couple bucks more but with their free shipping, you end up paying less).

I don't think Amazon always has the best prices but I tend to buy from Amazon anyways because I want the item now and they usually have the fastest shipping. Plus I don't have much time to browse around for price comparisons. I usually throw an item in my cart, another item later, maybe another, then just click buy. They make it very convenient for busy mamas

Overall, I find amazon has pretty good prices. But I tend to check BRU and BuyBuyBaby or Target as well to make sure, because sometimes amazon can be a little more expensive. I've found some differences sometimes.

I created a baby registry on Amazon and Target, and found a lot of the same items at Target for the same or cheaper price. So I guess I just don't assume Amazon is the cheapest anymore, although I definitely used to! It is convenient to be able to place one order for so many different items though. :)

I generally find the prices are better on Amazon, but that's for items actually sold by Amazon. All bets are off with other sellers and I check other prices in that case.

@lilyofthewest: Sweet I will look into the plug in. Thanks. :)

@78h2o: Yeah the 2 day shipping is so temping! But my example... the non-sale price at BRU is cheaper than amazon's sale price... jeez. If it was only a few dollars off I would totally be okay getting it from Amazon.

@MrsBrewer: Good to know! :)

@Bubbles: Yeah not going to a store and getting your item in the mail quickly does make you want to buy it from amazon! Haha.

@PurplePumps: I'm totally going to do that now. I'm glad otehrs are doing that now! :)

@mediagirl: Yeah I'm actually going to go to target tonight to get the replacement toy because that's where we originally bought it but didn't want to make the trip if I could just get on amazon. Now I know it's probably cheaper there anyways!

@mrsjazz: Ah the writing world thinks amazon is evil. I can see that.

@Greentea: I'm goggling articles now. Haha.

@Greentea: I respectfully disagree. I have many friends that work at Amazon and they've done lots of good in the region.

@Raindrop: I have found that if something is sold by a 3rd party, the price can be really out of whack with reality. In general though, Amazon (and many of the marketplace sellers) use autopricing so prices are generally good. Its never a bad idea to do a sanity check search though.

No, I always leave the items in my cart and check out local stores first. For example, I am glad I didn't buy a set of replay plates for kids priced on Amazon for $15. I bought it at Kroger's for $5.00.

I always comparison shop (not for books) and don't take Amazon's price as the best price. Many times I've found things for cheaper elsewhere, but most of the times I end up ordering on Amazon because of my two-day shipping.

As someone in the writing world I know I'm supposed to think Amazon is evil...but it also has made my life easier.

I find a lot of toys are cheaper in store than on Amazon. I remember last year I wanted the B Parum Pum drum for my lo and was shocked at how expensive it was (on Amazon) until I went to Target and saw how cheap it was! A lot of toys Target sells, they will sell for much more.

I've found their prices to vary...sometimes they are much cheaper than any other option, other times they are more. I usually do have to compare prices. Often the convenience of Amazon puts them ahead though, even if they are a few bucks more.

I use a browser plugin called Invisible Hand that does a lot of price comparison checking for me. For many, many items, Amazon is the best deal -- or is within such a small margin that it is worth faster shipping and not having to create an account and enter all of my information with another retailer. Other times...Amazon is a big false markup ripoff.

I trust Amazon when it comes to books and movies, but definitely some of their items are ridiculously priced! I bought a couple of those ice bucket bin things to store breastmilk in, only to realize they're like $4 in store and I paid like $12 through Amazon! And I just bought these cute little toy cars from Xander - $5 from BRU but over $10 from Amazon!

But I still often forget to shop around sometimes and end up paying Amazon's price (especially if it has Prime shipping)!
