In college, they make you take a public speaking course and they always stress how saying "um" too often is unprofessional and annoying. They told us to replace the word "um" with a moment of silence if we're trying to gather our thoughts. The class would count how many times you said "um" during your speech and sometimes, it got embarrassing!!</p> <p>Recently, I catch myself ending my sentences with "so". Weird and no idea where that came from!! I used to end my sentences with blah, blah, blah as in "and so for and what not". My manager called me out on it and I got docked in my professionalism area of my performance review.
