The plastic one is a joke. I don't know how long your son's hair is, but the plastic one could not get through my thick hair or my daughter's fine hair. I used a homeopathic lice shampoo twice before doing the mask. Here's a picture of both shampoos I used. I use a local raw honey (whipped honey is great for this too!) and just slather it in, let it sit for about 20 minutes and then rinse off with warm water. Honey does have anti-bacterial properties, along with other healing properties so it's great for any blemishes.
