@jhd: If you do find nits, make sure you get a nit comb with metal teeth. The plastic one is a joke. I don't know how long your son's hair is, but the plastic one could not get through my thick hair or my daughter's fine hair. I would also suggest treating yourself and your husband, just to make sure, and wash everything you can/dry on high heat.

I add coarse Kosher salt to my Cetaphil for an exfoliating scrub.

@yoursilverlining: I'm going to have to try the honey mask!

@jhd: I don't know if it killed anything because I didn't find any bugs in her hair after traditional methods. I used a homeopathic lice shampoo twice before doing the mask. Here's a picture of both shampoos I used. I think the mask smothers them and also makes it really, really easy to get the nits out.

ETA: the Boo! shampoo is the tea tree oil shampoo I mixed with coconut oil.

@avivoca: Can you tell me more about this? LO (18 months) has been "exposed" and I'm freaking out. I need to check him again in the am, but I'm not sure he actually has any nits. Did the tea tree/coconut oil combination kill them or just help to remove them after other treatments?

@Mamaof2: I use it in the morning before I apply my foundation, but I also use it throughout the day. My skin is so dry after having my LO, and I run a space heater at work, which just seems to suck all of the moisture out of my hair/skin. (I keep a travel size of Biosilk on hand for my hair).

I have also heard honey is great for skin! The other week I tried some kind of turmeric home made spot treatment that I read about on a blog, for a zit I had. What they did not mention is that it will dye your skin yellow. For over a day!

My new favorite beauty product is Tatcha Luminous Dewy Skin Mist. I used to lol when I read about celebs spritzing their skin and think *what a bunch of fancy nancys . . . that can't really do anything.* Uhhhhhhh, now I'm that girl! This stuff is seriously awesome. I even carry a travel size with me so that I can *spritz* at all times.

@Mamaof2: yup. I use a local raw honey (whipped honey is great for this too!) and just slather it in, let it sit for about 20 minutes and then rinse off with warm water. Honey does have anti-bacterial properties, along with other healing properties so it's great for any blemishes. Also makes your skin SUPER soft.

I use peppermint oil mixed with vitamin e oil on my face every night, it's the only thing that keeps my pregnancy skin issues manageable (I get dry patches and very painful cystic pimples when I'm pregnant).

I did a coconut oil/tea tree shampoo mask for lice and it totally got rid of everything in my daughter's hair. We had done the traditional route and were still finding nits, but once I did this, they all came out and I haven't seen any since (it's been about three weeks).

@yoursilverlining: just put reg honey on your face and let it sit?

I have used honey for zits - its suppose to have anti-microbial properties in it

I use honey as a face mask weekly. I don't know if it's odd since people have been using it for hundreds of years, but it is a little different

FB always has those "She used this for 2 days and when she woke up the 3rd day she looked like this"

You know those tag lines sucker you in :silly:

I clicked on it and read all the comments - several people said they use Aquaphor as an eye cream at night and that it made such a difference.

Since I already had it I have been using it for about a week - my DH thinks I'm crazy!

No idea if it will work but cant hurt right?

Do you use/have you tried and odd beauty treatments?
