@mamajaja: The grey went much better with our room, so thats what we did and they aren't quite as black-outy, but they sure have done the trick for us!

@mrs. jacks: Sorry, one more question - Does the room darkening shades (the grey ones you linked to) black out the room as well? I saw that Home Depot has black black out shades from the same brand.

I would prefer using the grey ones if they completely black out the light too.

Thanks!

@mamajaja: Yes, they are accordion style and have two clips that hold them in the up position during the day.

I should say that we've had ours for a couple of months and they are still perfect.

@Mrs. Jacks: I just got the paper black out shades from
Home Depot and it was so easy to put up...I just taped them behind our wooden blinds...and her room is pitch black!! Thanks so much again.

If anyone wants a cheap and easy way to put up black out shades - go to Home Depot and get the ones Mrs. Jacks recommended - they are awesome!

@sandy: no curtains would work for our windows (you can see pics of them on the blog), but the paper shades are stick on, so they mount to anything, no need for a rod. We mounted ours in between the window and the screen. (you really have to see our windows for it to make sense.

We had the curtains in olive's room lined with blackout fabric. But garbage bags on the windows work in a pinch!

In Charlie's room we had blinds made from an online company.... Blinds r us?

Big believer in blackout shades!

Yes.we have the Gro Anywhere blinds that work great with some duck tape for the gaps :). I really like that we can take these anywhere but if I had to do it again, I would have put a blackout lining on our curtains.

Yes! We right now have temporary paper ones from Home Depot. It was a great way to try some before buying expensive ones!

Just wondering if you have them in your LO's room. If so, where did you get them?

LO shows us signs she is tired but has been taking a while to fall asleep for her afternoon naps and at bedtime. We had her in complete darkness during a recent trip (hotel had black out shades) and she would fall asleep right away so I'm thinking about getting them for her room.
