I recently purchased some but I've only used it twice. I made banana pancakes with it and they were amazing. I'm a fan so far! :)

I eat it on toast... Im using the unrefined kind at the moment. I also tried it on my hair recently but I think my hair is too fine and the oil was a bit too heavy for it. Or maybe Im just doing it wrong...

Unrefined virgin coconut oil will have some coconut taste... I've used it for French Toast and it was ah-mazing. Refined coconut oil usually has no/very little coconut taste, but I don't use it since I don't mind the taste and the unrefined version is supposed to be more beneficial. I've also read that if you add some salt to the unrefined version, it cuts the coconut-y taste down a little, but I haven't tried that...

I've used it to...
Treat and prevent mild diaper rash
Smooth frizz out of my hair (on damp hair before blow-drying)
Clean and polish around the bathroom and kitchen
Moisturize dry skin patches on DD (which were gone within 24 hrs)
Moisturize after bathtime
Get rid of chapped lips
Add flavor to my oatmeal & smoothies

I've been using the Nutiva (at Whole Foods) and Trader Joe's brands. I have a bunch of little containers of coconut oil everywhere that are dedicated for different uses. I'm OBSESSED with coconut oil!

So far I have only used coconut oil for cooking and diaper rash!

@prettylizy: @Mrs. Bee: the brand I have is wilderness family naturals (ultra clean supreme expeller pressed) and there is no taste at all. I think there are varying levels of coconut taste and you have to find the brand you like the best... This brand is not as well priced as others though so I only use it for cooking.

@Mrs. Superhero Oh, the donut idea sounds great!

@mrsaudi I've seen it at the grocery store near the other cooking oils in a glass jar, but I've heard some people say you can find it at Costco, too.

I picked up the diaper rash cream tip from the ladies here. We have been battling an annoying one, was about ready to go to the doctor when I gave it a try. Only thing that has worked this time!

I know they are saying it is more beneficial for cooking these days, but I am hesitant with it's past reputation as not being the healthiest.

I use it for cooking and as moisturizer. The brand I buy doesn't taste coconutty, so you can't detect it in food.

I've used it for dry skin but I found shea butter worked better. I like to cook with it for high heat things that taste good with a bit of coconutiness, mostly asian food. I've deep fried doughnuts in it.

@prettylizy: Mostly preventative. I started using it to clear up a rash, and it did help quite a bit. If the rash is bad you might want to use something stronger.

It seems that coconut oil has been gaining a lot of popularity lately, although I'm sure some have been using it for a long time! I've heard amazing things about it (anti-fungal, good saturated fats, etc.) with uses ranging from cooking to beautification. So I'm curious, if you've tried it what are your favorite uses?
