@78h2o: Clipping services work by charging a small fee for the time they spend finding and cutting a coupon. Usually the price depends on the value of that coupon and most I buy are about $.10 though they could be higher for a much higher value coupon. I factor these costs into my savings but its much less expensive than a whole paper for a few dollars in coupons.

a few of my favorites are couponbeat.com, coupondede.com, and janscoupons.com. Some have a minimum purchase requirement, others have a handling fee. You can also look for one that is in a region that may receive better coupons than you do. As some manufacturers offer different deals in the same newspaper inserts based on location. A example would be putting a coupon for $.50/1 in my FL paper but putting $1/1 in a paper in CA.

Only at certain stores-- like Buy Buy Baby and bed Bath and Beyond, or Michaels or AC Moore, always. And if I'm going to the Gap or Old Navy or something I'll look online before hand. But I never do at grocery stores, which I guess is silly. I don't even remember to bring the ones you get with the receipts.

@lindseykaye: Thanks so much for the info. How does the clipping service work?

@NaturallyCathy: I usually shop at Wegmans. I looked at their website and they double up to .99, so that's good!

@Bao: I don't think my local store offers that, but I'll look into it. Sounds neat. They do send out 3 weekly coupons in the mail - $5 off purchase of >$25, $1 off frozen, $1 off dairy - that kind of thing. I always get $7 off because of those coupons, but I don't usually have that many more.

@mrs. bird: I'll check out that site - thanks!

@artbee: I always use coupons at BRU, Michaels, etc. as well.

I use coupons and have saved thousands of dollars over the past few years since I started shopping this way. I have also been able to donate hundreds of dollars worth of food without paying for any of that amount out-of-pocket. I'm of the theory that any amount of saving is a benefit so you can start small and just clip for things you know you will buy.
Now though, I use a store-specific site like you linked to (but I shop at Publix so I read http://www.iheartpublix.com) and do our weekly shopping based on what is on sale AND has coupons to pair up. I try to buy enough of a good deal to last until the next sale will happen, usually 6 weeks to a few months. Then we plan our meals based on what we have in our 'stockpile' and the freezer and what is on sale currently. I NEVER make a meal plan based on what I want to eat and then shop for that.
It was a gradual shift and now I can't think of shopping any other way.
I get my coupons from the internet when they are linked from the sale ad matchup on the blog, and then order newspaper coupons from a clipping service site instead of paying for a subscription. Good luck - and feel free to write on my wall if you want any more tips or info!

I clip coupons but I'm not a huge clipper so I'm afraid I can't help much. We often go to Publix, where if the coupon is less than 50 cents, they'll double the coupon on top of any sale prices or something. So that's the most experience I have, sorry!

Like @artbee I use them at Hobby Lobby, when shopping for clothes, and such. Now that we've changed alot of what we eat it's hard to use them at the grocery store. =/

I do, but I'm not great at it. My mom gives me the coupons from the paper since I don't get it, and then our grocery store has online coupons you can "clip" and then just enter your phone number at check out to get them. I like that option better since it's easy. Does your store offer something like that? or rewards?

I totally should, but I rarely do. Cause I suck! But I even get the Sunday paper free at work (the following Monday) since I work in a library, and I totally *could* and *should* clip the coupons. But I'm just so lazy.

I do, but not a whole lot. My co-worker brings the Sunday paper to work and I clip whatever I need out of there, and lately we haven't been going out to eat unless we have a coupon for the restaurant. I haven't had the time to do the super couponing though :/

I do for certain stores. Like I never buy anything at babies r us, Michaels, bed bath, etc. without a coupon because they either send me one or I can get it on my phone.

My grocery store just started digital couponing so you "clip" it online and then all you have to do is punch in your phone number at checkout to redeem it. But they never seem to have any I want......

Sites like this: http://coupondivas.com/wegmans-coupons.html
seem useful in that they match up coupons (some printable) with in-store deals... never tried it though. Coupons appear legit though...

Do you use coupons? If so, do you have any good sources for coupons? Any tips? How does doubling work?

Looking to save money on groceries and baby stuff (diapers, etc.)

Thanks!
