You can get messages In the regular app again! I didn't DL the messenger app out of principle-I just logged in on my phones browser to view messages.

Initially I refused to download it because of all the hype. I need it for work purposes though, my graduates use it all the time and I'm in contact with them on a daily basis during boards windows. It really isn't a big deal at all, I've never had any problems with it.

I don't really use FB so I never bothered installing messenger. I wish I could delete the FB app but it won't let me.

No, but I don't use Facebook messenger regularly. When someone sends me a message I go to facebook from the web browser on my phone.

Yup, I use it. Messenger apps all need permissions like that to use the features.

@bluestriped bee: I never downloaded the messenger app, I just check my messages in the mobile Facebook site. I hardly even use the Facebook app at all since it doesn't show me as much as the mobile site. But I keeprit installed so I get notifications.

@Dandelion: Yes, I deleted it at first. Then I read and realized it is just like other apps! I don't have time to go on the mobile version or wait to get onto my computer. I need immediate gratification of getting rid of my notifications!

I think there is the opportunity for invasion but being on FB in itself is an invasion and they can do a lot with your data. I think you just sort of have to resign yourself to being part of "big data" marketing.

Yep. Anyone listening ibto my life would find me pretty boring lol

I deleted the facebook app though cause it took up so much space, sent me too many notifications and I can get on fb with my phone's browser.

I deleted the messenger app in the whole FB privacy issue where the terms say...

Allows the app to change the state of network connectivity

Allows the app to call phone numbers without your intervention. This may result in unexpected charges or calls. Malicious apps may cost you money by making calls without your confirmation.

Allows the app to send SMS messages. This may result in unexpected charges. Malicious apps may cost you money by sending messages without your confirmation.

Allows the app to record audio with microphone. This permission allows the app to record audio at any time without your confirmation.

Allows the app to take pictures and videos with the camera. This permission allows the app to use the camera at any time without your confirmation.

Allows the app to read you phone's call log, including data about incoming and outgoing calls. This permission allows apps to save your call log data, and malicious apps may share call log data without your knowledge.

Allows the app to read data about your contacts stored on your phone, including the frequency with which you've called, emailed, or communicated in other ways with specific individuals.

Allows the app to read personal profile information stored on your device, such as your name and contact information. This means the app can identify you and may send your profile information to others.

Allows the app to access the phone features of the device. This permission allows the app to determine the phone number and device IDs, whether a call is active, and the remote number connected by a call.

Allows the app to get a list of accounts known by the phone. This may include any accounts created by applications you have installed.

Read more at http://www.snopes.com/computer/facebook/messenger.asp#PfrxlHdHlOymvuro.99

-----------

Anyway, its kind of annoying that I can't view FB messages on my phone and that I have to wait til I'm at a computer to view them. Snopes said their terms are pretty standard like other apps. So think I might re-install the messenger app again.

So do you have the Messenger App installed on your phone or ipad?
