My strategy is usually to look up the route on Google Maps beforehand and get a sense of where I'm going and what streets/landmarks I should be seeing, what general direction I should be going in so my attention can be on the road. Originally we didn't plan on getting navigation in our car, but the dealer didn't have the car we wanted available. He did have it with a navigation system, and the price wasn't much more. It's free &amp; DH likes to use my waze app over his portable gps </p>
