We have nonstick pans, but like PP we will get rid of them once they show wear. We also have iron skillets and just got a ceramic frying pan that I'm ready to try.

We have non stick but I want to replace them - they are getting a little old (3 years) and I feel like the non stick is coming off! That can't be good!

Oh.- and I just read you are NOT supposed to use cooking spray (like Pam) on Teflon plans - it ruins it!! Too late for me.

We use nonstick pans for things like fried eggs and pancakes. We're really careful to throw them out as soon as they start to show wear, and we make sure never to heat them up empty (part of the avoiding fumes thing)

it looks like it doesn't necessarily cause cancer but there are some health effects due to the fumes released by the non-stick cookware. I wonder if that's why they always recommend to not have it at medium to medium-high heat when using nonstick pans.

I use non-stick pans, but toss them out as soon as they start peeling. I've only had 1 saucepan that I had to toss due to this. My others are still in good condition 6 years later!

I use olive oil. I think I remember a professor saying that if a bird was flying in the same room as a heated non-stick pan, it would drop dead from the toxicity! I don't know if that's true but it scared me away from using non-stick plans.

We use non-stick mostly. I don't like to cook with too much fat. If it isn't peeling, then it's supposed to be OK? We also hand wash and get a new set every few years so I don't get anything too expensive.

Just make sure to replace your nonstick pans when you start to see stuff scratch off the surface. I try not to spend too much on nonstick pans since i'll usually replace them every couple of years.

Any oils/fats will help make food not stick to the pan, as long as the pan is hot when you start cooking. There's nothing worse than putting eggs or meat onto the pan when it's cold and having everything stick!

I used to use olive oil to make pans non stick, but Bee suggested using a pat of butter instead and that's been working great!
