Most of the time they only have one or two open registers and assumes everyone will use the self checkout. I always have so much trouble scanning some of the items (and I used to work as a cashier!). DH loves them, but when I'm alone I almost always go to a regular line, unless the regular line is super long and the self-checkout line is short. </p>
