We live minutes away from my parents and about 20 minutes from my in-laws. My parents drop by often to visit, but my in-laws expect us to visit them. In the past 6 months, they came to visit once after the hospital and waited until Elliot started rolling over to visit again. Most of these expectations were unspoken, and we were expected to know.

I'm not sure how we'll handle this when the time come... We live in the UK and my family are all in the US (mostly Texas). I know when the baby first comes it's up to my parents to come visit. But after a few months I'd like to take the baby to meet Great-G'ma and Papa who can't fly. I'm less worried about travelling with a young baby (but not newborn) than with a toddler actually.

We have the same policy as you guys since my parents live in Hawaii. No way am I getting on that long flight with a toddler just yet. My MIL lives in Florida so we may go there soon since it is only a few hours away.

There's just no way we can visit the in-laws with any frequency. I think Charlie has visited his LA grandma once in his life. He's never trekked out to the Philippines, which is where my parents happen to live.

Now that we have baby #2, we're not really traveling at all. If our parents want to see Charlie and Olive, they're gonna have to get on a plane! We're too chicken to travel until the kids are a bit older.

Do you visit your in-laws? Or are you like us, and your grandparents come to visit you?
