Ugh...definitely not. This morning, I could barely drag myself out of bed, and I finally did have a pretty decent night's sleep. LO1 who is 4.5 gets up once in the middle of the night and wants to snuggle in our bed. I take him back to his room and end up falling asleep with him in there. My husband will either get up to pee in the middle of the night and come get me, or his alarm at 5am makes him realize I'm not there and he'll come get me. I don't sleep well in LO's bed as he's a kicker, so I appreciate him coming to get me!

LO2 is hit or miss with sleeping through the night. He's teething right now, so he cries out in the middle of the night a few different times which totally wakes me up and I can't get back to sleep. Makes for super groggy mornings, and I'm NOT pregnant!

I've noticed for me it depends a lot on lighting. When the sun is out and I wake up naturally from that, I feel great. During the months when I have to get up before the sun's been up - that's when I hit snooze over and over. I got a sunlight alarm clock for Christmas though so I'm excited to see if that helps in a few weeks when it'll be dark in the morning again.

I'd say about 1/7 days a week I wake up feeling rested. I'm in the first tri with #2 and my toddler generally sleeps well so I don't know what my problem is, other than stress.

Hardly ever ! My son is always the one who wakes me. So I think it might have to do with not getting out of my sleep cycle naturally !!
Also 20 weeks pregnant at the moment so been sleeping badly !

No. I have an 18 month old and am 12 weeks pregnant. My toddler still wakes up at least once a night to nurse, and we cosleep at least part of every night. I work as a nanny Monday through Thursday and kiddo comes to work with me. I'm very much a night owl, and an introvert, so I stay up for 2-3 hours after my husband and toddler go to bed. The time to myself is worth getting less sleep, for me. I very rarely feel refreshed or even well rested when I wake up. But I feel rested enough to manage.

@Cole: some MD's treat based on symptoms alone but most start with a TSH test and if that's normal, it ends there. But my t3 & t4 are low. I would have continued to suffer unless I would have sought out a naturopath. It was totally worth it.

@Portboston: I need to look into thyroid testing, I get mine tested all the time because I totally fit the profile but it's always done by a more traditional doctor.

No. Never. I've always been a light, restless sleeper, with varying levels of insomnia, so even if I stayed in bed 10 to 12 hours, I wouldn't feel refreshed. Now with a 5-week old...I feel like I'll never not feel like a zombie again!

OOoooof...never. I'm a horrible sleeper; my mom can pinpoint when I was 12 or so when it all went downhill. No idea why (never had anything traumatic happen at 12 or anytime, really). Horrible time falling asleep, and now as I get older, multiple night wakings (I have the sleep habits of a 6 month old). So no, I never feel refreshed. Chronically tired, is more like it. I wouldn't be surprised if there is something underlying but eh....it is what it is and I make it work.

Maybe when I was like 20!!! But I have to say that I have been waking up a lot better then I used to, since treating my thyroid. I'm borderline hypo and see a naturopath for treatment. Most MD's won't treat me but let me tell you, it makes a world of difference for my energy level!

No, but my sleep quality while pregnant is terrible - I know I'm not in a deep sleep much of the night. I feel for you with the toddler wakeups though! It sounds awful, but we've ignored DD if she wakes up too early in the past and she'll either go back to sleep or play with her stuffed animals in her bed. We also got her a time to wake clock that worked GREAT for a while, but she seems to be ignoring it lately (luckily only 1/2 hr early though). Would any of that work for your DD? I know they're similar ages.

Nope. I kind of launch myself out of bed and don't open my eyes until after I'm in the shower. I maintain a state of half awareness throughout the morning routine, finally feeling somewhat refreshed after a mug of coffee. Then, I get tired again. (I think you're normal. Kids, man...)

I'm not miserable and super groggy but I always want more sleep because I still wake up when it is dark out. Plus I'm 31 weeks pregnant so I do a lot of bathroom trips at night and sometimes I get thinking about some random crap and stay up for a little while. But overall, I'm not super miserable when I wake up. I am completely done by 9 pm though.

Yes, I do wake up bright eyed and bushy tailed when I get the perfect number hours of sleep, which is between 9 and 10 hours. If I sleep too much or too little, I am groggy.

I also limit my caffeine intake, I don't drink any coffee past my morning cups and then if I do have an iced tea, it's with lunch and then nothing but water after that.

Generally yes, after the first five minutes or so. I have always been a terrible sleeper and I think my body has just adapted. Even with a newborn waking up a million times, I'm pretty okay. But I did put a dirty plate in the fridge instead of the dishwasher yesterday, so maybe I'm deceiving myself. :)

Nope... Was pregnant when DD1 was 16-24 months... But she wasn't even the problem... Even in the supposedly great 2nd trimester I was already uncomfortable. 3rd trimester? Forget it! Also I think that as long as I don't wake up naturally, I don't feel refreshed.
