Our ped says to not wake them to take temps or give meds. As long as the fever isn't high enough to cause any damage, if they're able to sleep through it they should be fine. I load them up before bedtime with motrin so that they can stay as comfortable as possible for as long as possible, and I keep the room cool!

Let them sleep. I made this mistake a few weeks ago and I learned my lesson. I thought I could slip the thermometer under his arm while he was sleeping, but he woke up and refused to go back to sleep for 2 hours.

Our doc said no, they said if the fever was higher than 104, they WILL wake you up because that's something that they can't sleep through...

I don't have this problem, she wakes up on her own in the middle of the night. :) But I won't wake her to check her and give Tylenol. I figure if she's sleeping, it's because she needs it to fight the bug. I hope she feels better soon!!

We let her sleep. Maybe once shes older we will wake her but right now it would be a hot mess waking her.

I was just googling this same question at 3am ...

I woke lo up because she felt really hot and I was worried (she just had her shots yesterday). She had a temp of 102 so I gave her Tylenol ... But in the process got her all worked up when she was otherwise sound asleep. I think next.time I'll let her sleep .... So much easier said than done though!

She's never really had fevers so I don't know... we have a temporal thermometer so I don't have to wake her. But, if the temp was that high, I would definitely give her more Tylenol. Hope she feels better soon :-(

I just let LO sleep when he's sick--his little body needs the rest.

I always let him sleep. He's even more miserable if I don't, and sleep really is good for them when they're sick.

I never have. My MIL always calls us (if she knows LO isn't feeling well) to remind us to wake her up in the middle of the night to check but I never do.

I gave my LO Tylenol at bedtime because her temp was 103. I just took her temp after breakfast and it is even higher than 103. Maybe I should have woken her up in the middle of the night to give her more Tylenol?

Do you wake your kids when they are sick or do you just let them sleep?
