We learned pretty early on to let her just sleep. She's consistently gaining weight and has regular diaper changes so it was never a problem.

My lo was born big so it was never really an issue. Even in the hospital the nurse once told me she'd wake me up in two hours and four hours later I woke up myself freaking out that I was starving my lo. The nurse said that she saw us all sleeping and wanted to let us sleep and my lo was fine.

We got the OK to let LO sleep through the night around the third week. Until then, I fed her every three hours (she was a very sleepy baby and could sleep up to 6 hours if I had let her).

We had to wake up LO for the first two months or so, but he was teeny tiny so it was a matter of getting to a good weight first. Lots of people advised me to let him sleep, but my gut was that he needed the calories. I would ask your doc.

We never had to wake her, she would wake on her own when she was very tiny and by the time she was 10 days old had established that she was eating on demand and gaining well, so our pediatrician said to let her eat when she wanted and sleep when she wanted! But if your LO had had some issues gaining, I can see why you would need to keep waking her, do you have any idea how she is doing with that recently?

My baby is about the same age...5 weeks on Friday. He had problems regaining weight initially and I was told to wake him to eat. He usually would wake up on his own before 3 hours was up anyway so I stopped setting an alarm. A few times he did sleep like 5 hours or so without waking and I would feel slightly guilty about it. However, his 1 month appt was today and he has gained 1.5 lb in 2 weeks so my doctor gave me the go ahead to let him sleep and just feed him when he wakes up. Have you had your 1 mo visit yet? If your baby is thriving, you should be able to let her sleep. If not, don't beat yourself up for skipping one feeding! We are all human afterall and it isn't going to change much based on one missed feeding :)

DD was 4 days over due and always a good weight so our pediatrician said to just let her sleep, even when she was a few days old! DD would sleep between 4-5 hrs at night, even as a newborn, so I thought I had to wake her up but our doctor said no. I fed her a lot during the day so I guess that was enough for her.

I felt terrible last night because I let my baby girl go 4 1\2 hours with no food. My alarm went off but I don't even remember turning it off! She is 5 weeks old and since she was born I'm always waking her up to feed thru the night every 3 hours. In the beginning she was super tiny so I had to make sure she was eating enough. I asked the doctor when she was 3 weeks if I could go longer at night and he said my 3 hours was good and to never go longer than 4 hours. She hardly ever wakes up on her own to eat so I know she would probably sleep thru most of the night and sleep sounds so amazing to me! Last night was the longest I have slept straight thru since she was born.

So my question is do you wake your LO or justt let them sleep? Again, she is 5 weeks :)
