My mom was a SAHM during my school years and she kept busy volunteering at my school (room mom, PTA, etc) and also was always working in her garden, sewing... things like that. I would like to do that also... I don't think I will ever go back to full time teaching but I will probably take on some tutoring hours while they are in school. I was also thinking about opening a etsy shop. There's really not as much free as one might think. Once you drop them at school, if you go to the gym, run errands, come home, have lunch, clean, pack lunches/lay things out for the next day, start prepping dinner, then you have to pick kids up and do their after school activities, have dinner, do homework, get them all ready for bed, and repeat!!!! I love being able to parent full time, but I miss the intellectual stimulation of working in research. I'd like to work part time when my children go to school, but still have time to keep the house. I plan to do somewhat of the opposite. I'll be staying home when s/he is a baby and will more than likely find a part time gig when school starts. She found that by the time she found after school care for each of them and then factored in all their extracurricular activities it was better for her to be home.</p> <p>I remember her saying how much she enjoyed being able to help out at school, go on school camp etc! </p>
