Unless you have a TON of soy product, I don't think it's an issue. But it IS an estrogen-mimicker. I only have tofu and soy products sparingly now, because my hormones are already imbalanced and I don't want to compound the situation. But I do love tofu!

I'm a tofu/soy lover, and have heard of the estrogen "problem". I think you're fine. Plus, think of the preggo ladies in Japan, I'm sure they constantly eat sashimi/raw fish even though that's considered a no-no food to eat!

I avoid soy. Between the phytoestrogens and the fact that almost all soy crops (even organic...unless stated otherwise) are GMO, I just prefer to avoid.

My mom made us tofu dishes all the time as kids. I'm Vietnamese.

Need to look into this more...

When I was a vegetarian I relied heavily on soy products and did some research and realized it was too much soy. That's when I realized I was trying to substitute meat too much, I love meat. I have soy milk and tofu occasionally, not enough to worry about the estrogen.

It's so hard to avoid eating soy being Asian here too. My son eats a lot of tofu b/c he hasn't been a fan of meat for the longest time. Now that he's 3 he's willing to try more meat, thankfully. But he still likes tofu though and so do I!

I think a lot of it has to do with how it is grown in the US. I do limit my intake of it, because the excess estrogen is linked to a higher breast cancer risk (which runs in my family).

I don't worry about it at all... I eat as much tofu and soy as I like. I feel like I wouldn't have to worry about excess estrogen unless I consume soy 24/7 for an entire year.

This is hard for us bc DD doesn't like meat but LOVES tofu. She would have it 3x/day if I let her. Being Asian, it's hard for me to believe it's so harmful when it's been a staple in my family's diet going back generations. I've made a note to self to discuss w DD's doc at her checkup this month. He's Asian too so he'll know where I'm coming from.

I LOVE tofu and edamame! I could eat them every day! I've been told by a few Caucasian friends before (I'm Chinese) to be careful of how much soy I eat because of estrogen and something about it being really bad for me. I admit I don't know too much about it and I cut back a bit, more conscious about not having it too much in a week. Does anyone else worry about soy products?
