@Rubies: I've been getting monthly massages since I was pregnant for migraines. Really it's supposed to be all neck/head related... but I always do a full body because now I also have all sorts of weird pains!

I have a lot of hip pain, mostly in my left hip – similar to what @Erwoo described (it’s so bad it’s hard to walk sometimes, etc.).

I go to physical therapy, and work on different pelvic muscle strengthening exercises and posture exercises. The big one he recommends is to make sure you are sitting straight – i.e., not resting your weight on one side or the other, but trying to even it out between left and right hips. Also, cutting down on twisting motions, and to make sure to try to keep weight off your back (don’t lock your knees when you stand, watch how you are carrying and holding heavy items, etc.).

About half my appointment is spent in deep massage with the therapist, so I think a regular massage by someone skilled would probably help too!

When I was pregnant with my first, I had constant right hip pain and even after I gave birth to him and for months. I find that wearing more supportive shoes when I go out helps A LOT and standing on a supportive, cushion-y mat at home helps too, especially when I'm in the kitchen prepping/cooking food. I always wondered if it was a result of my joints getting looser from being pregnant? I never went to the doctor to find out; but once we're done having kids and I'm still having the same pain I'm def. going to see a doctor about it. I remember not being able to walk at times b/c of the pain.

Now pregnant with #2 (31 weeks along now) hip pain is almost non-existent (SO strange!) BUT I have right butt cramping pain now. Sometimes I can't even sit comfortably or lie down but a heating pad really helps a lot. Nothing really helped with my hip pain. Wish I had some relief suggestions for you besides wearing more supportive shoes and standing on a cushioned mat at home. Maybe even cushioned slippers at home too? I don't like wearing slippers at home so I don't know if that helps; but I'm sure it'll give you some relief!

My hips hurt sometimes when I lie on my side. I used to think it was because they were shrinking back to normal size. :P

I don't know if it's related (I'm sure it is, though), but my lower right hip is killing me. I only hold LO on my left side so I'm assuming this is the cause. Lately it's been getting so bad that I can't sleep and have to resort to Tylenol but when I do wake up, the pain is still there.

Do you have hip pain? How do you treat it?
