Dirty. My DS is army crawling and also baby led weaning. So he'll eat with his hands and all the mush ends up all over his hair.

I get grossed out by the dirt that is in his nails too.

Dirty!! And it makes me so sad. His nose and upper lip are covered with crusty dry snot, there's dried food in his hair, food stains all over his shirt, etc. I'm starting to research new daycare facilities, but the price of this one just can't be beat. Now that he's older, being dirty is normal so I can overlook food stains, but the dry boogers gets me every time.

Just to further explain--I think nose wiping and say, food on a shirt are different. A snotty nose is unhygienic and get wiped on every surface in the class--the desks, toys. It's just gross. Why wouldn't the teacher take care of that? Isn't that what all the tissues and clorox wipes (for desks and stuff) for??

Boggles the mind.

Depends on the day. But I think it's crazy that a Pre-K teacher wouldn't help wipe a nose. I know kindergarten teachers who still tie shoes, help with pants buttons when the kids need to go to the bathroom, and wipe noses!

When I worked in an elementary school (youngest was K), I was tying shoes and wiping noses all day!

Can you shoot the teacher an email and ask that they wipe her nose?

Ugh. Dirty! He's messy when he eats "but mama, they don't put a bib on me!" and then he always has some kind of art project stuck to him. I try not to send him to school in light colored clothes since I know they will be wrecked.

Cleaner than she used to come home. It also depends on the teacher. One teacher doesn't seem to ever see snot rockets dripping down faces...

Usually he's pretty clean after daycare, but today he was a bit of a mess. I know he has a bib on, but I wonder if now that he's in long sleeves as the temperatures drop outside, if he's doomed to come home in messy clothes. He's also quite animated when he eats these days, so that makes it hard not to get food everywhere :)

Dirty. Snot on her face, food dried in her hair occasionally, enough food on her clothes to make me wonder if they're putting a bib on her when she eats... sigh. It's just not the battle I want to fight, so I let it go.

At his old daycare he came home dirty and it used to flip me out. You really can't wipe his nose? Now, at his new center he appears clean in their light so I know they think he is clean. They wipe his nose (they don't dig the way parents do ) and clean off his face. However, when I get him out in the sun he is so dirty! I know that's out of their control though.

Our daughter used to come home from daycare fairly clean, because her teachers would wipe her nose and clean her up a bit. Totally took it for granted!

Then she started preschool two weeks ago, and either she got much messier or her teachers aren't cleaning her up at all. It's not a huge deal, but it's been an adjustment for us each time we send a kid to preschool or pre-k! It's a little nervewracking though: if they can send kids home with huge boogers on their face, what else are they not doing?
