When does it get dark in NYC?

It gets dark by 8-8:30 pm here, and the kid's bedtimes are usually after that.... so we don't really get that complaint! If they do sleep earlier, they either skipped a nap and are so tired anyway that it's pretty easy to get them down.

Luckily no. At the peak of summer it isn't dark until 10:30 here.

YES! My five year old argues with us all the time about it! We have black out curtains now, and it helps a little but not really. I would let her stay up if she would sleep in then, but she doesn't. She's up every day at 6:45 no mater what time she goes to bed!

In the winter, we told the kids one day that they had to sleep because it was dark out. Well that's totally backfired on us, because now they object to going to bed when it's still light outside! #parentingfail

We may need to upgrade our blackout shades. Or just explain that in the summer, it takes longer to get dark. Either way, I wish we had never mentioned the darkness rule!
