We went to IKEA last night to get DS a big boy bed and I fell in love with the bunk bed next to the single I'd picked out! He's never fallen off. It's the Ikea one that can be either a lofted bed (with a floor bed on the bottom) or a canopy bed, depending on which way you set it up. The top bed with rails makes a good safe place for our too young to be out of a crib kid.</p> <p>We'll bunk then when I can trust the younger one to not go up there or when I feel safe about her on the ladder. He loves going on the top to play but we've had conversations about making sure to not jump or climb off the sides or he could get hurt. He's been ok so far. I think as long as you have those conversations and set the rules, they tend to follow. Charlie is almost 7 and Olive just turned 5. My main worry is that Olive is super clumsy and always falling off things (like her current regular bed). She'd get the bottom bunk, but I'm sure she'd climb up to the top to play and I'm worried about her falling off.</p> <p>Do your kids have a bunk bed? How old are they? </p>
